   Why do most people see "Faith" as a point of weakness?
   
   Fear being, lack of faith and faith being lack of fear. To me, to have faith takes great courage.

   Good question.  Faith is something special. People with strong wills, and determined ways seem to be better at faith.
   
   Anyone can have it if they want it so all I can say is that I have it , and that is the way I choose to be in my life. If someone see's faith as a weakness I suppose that is simply what that person chooses to have.
   
   Many people believe in certain things for all kinds of reasons. Freedom to believe in God is something I am glad I have. As an American citizen I love my rights to enjoy my faith in God.
   
   In all my life I have loved God, my country, and my wife, and family, and friends, and as many new friends I can acquire. 
   
   It takes courage to do so many things in life, but many many good people everywhere have it.

   faith to me isn't about strength or weakness, it's about need. so many people need a crutch to lean on just to get by. perhaps in reality it is a weakness but it's also a way to just make each day bearable.

   I often believe hope is for those who feel helpless or sometimes lazy. Faith is of a different nature. Faith implies strenght and wisdom..... Given from God...... When we apply our faith in our lives, we know God gives us the tools to solve problems and if we have faith in God ( and a close friendship) ,  God will help guide us to the best answer.

   I don't think that faith in and of itself implies weakness. It all depends on how you use it. For example, if your faith in god leads you to handle your problems in strides, or help others, or lead a productive life, then it doesn't make you weak. However those same results could be achieved with a faith in one's self (like in Buddhism) or a faith in an external force, like government or law. In other words, it doesn't matter what you have faith in, as long as that faith leads you to a good life.
   
   However, if faith is used as an excuse for not doing anything, then it could be seen as a weakness. For example, if you refuse to actively seek solutions in your life because you think god will provide those solutions to you, then it doesn't necessarily promote a strong, healthy person.

   I think people talk about "faith" without defining the term. Those who do not have a deep spiritual or religious root of their own see faith as a crutch for the week, and "having faith," to them, means doing nothing.
   
   Those who have faith in the religious sense find strength in faith, and will live with the strength of their convictions, and do what is right, even at great cost and through great suffering. This is a common Christian, Jewish, and Muslim meaning of faith, though one that is rarely stated clearly, even by those who have it.
   
   There is another, rarer meaning. In some Buddhism, particularly Zen, faith is simply the openness and willingness to take the next step. It is not global and vast. It is simple and present. Yet, living with this type of faith every day is, quite literally, life-changing. We grow and change every day. We bear suffering peacefully more and more each day. And so, over time, we become people who live free of suffering, even through troubles, and we lessen the suffering of the others in our lives.

   Because Faith is trust, we have to trust a belief which perhaps is not 'quite' believable to certain 'parts' of ourselves: our rational mind.   This is particularly so when it comes to our 'spirituality'- belief in the Divine.
   
   And I might add that you'd don't need to be a religious person to be spiritual. 
   
   There is a great deal of credence given to our 'rational mind' being of all importance in our culture.  Science still reigns supreme in a lot of people's thinking.   Faith in something which is not 'scientifically measurable' puts a strain on us, dividing ourselves from a mind we tend to indentify as ourselves and our 'real' self.    Because of this Faith does take courage.
   
   However, sometimes Faith is rewarded in such a way that our belief grows stronger.   But still it is Faith- until perhaps we experience an epithany which then turns Faith into 'knowing.'    Once that happens Faith in things of the spirit is hardly required.

   Faith is a strong constitution that you believe in about someone or something. If you believe in God that  helps strengthen our faith in our belief. I think without having faith in something or someone nothing would ever come to materialization. Faith is having a really strong belief that something will come to pass.

    They don't. Most people have tremendous faith in their religion and their gods but no-one seems to have a good answer as to why.

    Because the smart one knows that faith makes you stronger, so making you feel bad about it would make you shut down and weaker actually!
    The not so smart one doesn't know what he is missing and is not respectful, so he or she will say that faith is for poor people and weak people.
    What is faith? It depends on people...some believe in fear, in money, in sex, in pain, in lies, in betrayal.... and some believe in some basic principles that include love, peace, discipline and goodness.
    Be aware that people would often pretend to push others to drop the best thing they have in their lives. They like fallen angels or company in their misery.
    I just had a discussion with a friend who believes that going voodoo would fix all her problems and tries to push it on me. I had been told by some friends before that she was my weakness because she always brings back that. I just told her that she will just get used and more confused following the wrong ones, those who are for your destruction any kind of way. There, I expressed that deep faith I have developed those last years and suddenly I had no more friend on the phone, a cold stranger saying yeah yeah. I realized that yes, she probably thinks I am stupid, I am not, I am aware that is the different.
    Who chooses a magic wand instead of a steady strong rock for ever???
    
    RICHARD FERNANDEZ, EVERY PERSON WHO HAS FAITH is not a lazy person who just prays and waits!!! Nope, faith without work is not!  I hope you know they are so many different people, religions and culture who emphasize work in faith, not faith in laziness...I recognize I have met some people like that I just keep up with my work.

    Some people place more importance on "proof", " science" and " fact", than they do on faith, acceptance or belief.
    
    In turn, perhaps a natural turn, they regard those of us who stand on a doctrine of faith, as having no proven evidence...........
    
    The truth is, we have no physical, scientific, "proof"............we are stronger for having " faith"...............many "educated", " reasonable", " demanding", " show me" types of people, can not imagine grand things coming from little seeds.

    I believe that many people may view a weakness in those who have faith and a religious life. Most people, however, see faith as a genuine heartfelt joy and expression of their belief in God. Faith is what we have in our God's creation of all and in his son, Jesus Christ who was sent to us to save us from sin and accept those who will follow him, into heaven's spiritual light. The weakness in mankind is his ever increasing greed and carnal life style, along with a myriad of temptations that would destroy him and her, and place a barrier between them and our Lord.
    In reality, faith is a point of strength and determination that there is a creator and we will be accepted into heaven in spirit form to join all of the others waiting there.

    I was mulling over this on my mind and is still puzzled why would anyone attribute faith to weakness. Faith in anything, as in anything including yourself is strength. It is where you find the epitomy of your optimism. That to me is a virtue.

    Faith is seen as a point of weakness by some because they believe those who use it, uses it as a crutch: escape mechanism, or an excuse to be inactive about a situation.
    
    There are at least two aspects of Faith, one:  a belief system (Mark 16:16) and two: the active pursuing of a manifestation of something that has not yet materialize or happened in the natural realm (Hebrews 11:1). 
    
    When walking in Faith, we must do ALL that we can do in a situation and allow the Holy Spirit lead and direct us into ALL things.  At the center of the question of Faith, as our belief system, we MUST kow the will of God.  For example, holding on to a house that's in foreclosure.  Borrowing, maneuvering to stay in a home that, yes we love and worked so hard to get, but loss of income and even the prospect to attain another one that will support the decision to hold on to the home is not "reasonable" or viable.  To simply say that I have faith that I will retain the home in the face of the adverse situation looks extremely foolish to non-believers!  On the flip-side, we as Christ-like believers must know HIS will in the situation and abide, accept, and walk in our Faith towards fulfillment of our purpose.
