I personally am ok with the 5 day working two off as an idea.
I used to own a store and worked over 90 hours per week for several years, no time off or vacations. Believe me that is hard work.
Now I work five days and have two off. My work hours are actually changing next week. After 5 years working Monday -Friday my employer is allowing me to move my work week to Tuesday-Saturday, this will allow me to work the same hours but allow me time off to go to regular doctor appointments, which are becoming neccessary,
Of course I lose time with my wife on weekends, but not losing one or two days work each month will be nice.
I am in the lucky position though of not affecting other staff with this change and also it is an accommodation due to illness so a legally required matter.
It could be an alternate strategy for some, change what is a regular Monday-Friday job to whatever suits you. There are always costs though so you need to take those into account.
