WHY do you believe in God?

Not stuff like "he is loving and great" or anything like that. I'm looking for specific reasons why you choose to believe in a god and be a part of religion.

Compared to what I have seen and my personal experiences I know that we are not alone. Their is good and evil on this planet and their is a higher power that is guiding us. I believe in God because of just personal experiences, that is all I can go on.

I have a strong background in science and was educated (indoctrinated?) in the theory of evolution. I took it for granted that evolution was fact. After all, it was taught to me in high school and in college, and most thinking people take it for fact.

I called myself an "agnostic," someone who sits on the fence, not denying God but reserving a final decision until someone or something proves there is really a God.

I was a strong young woman, very athletic and accomplished, accruing all kinds of accolades. I was a hot shot!

Then I reached a low point in my life where things weren't going so well for me, and when I failed to find answers from human beings I reached out to God. It was only in my poverty of spirit that I was able to see what had been there all along but I was too arrogant to see before.

As a new believer, I simply believed, but I had to grow in my knowledge of God's Word as written in the holy Bible, and as I read the Bible I learned more about Who God is, and I re-evaluated what I thought I knew about the world around me. As I learned more, I found out that the Bible is not myth, that it is supported not only by archeological evidence and historical fact, but by scientific evidence.

There are scientific facts in the Bible that only came to the understanding of scientists centuries after the Bible was written. I studied the historical accuracy of the Bible and used what I had learned in my study of logic and scientific method to evaluate the story of Jesus and His resurrection.

As someone who has studied and even taught biology and human physiology and studied genetics, botany, physics, math, etc. I began to look at the intricacies of lifeforms in a different way. I saw how evolution - at least macroevolution didn't make sense when I looked at it logically. I now see God as the great Creator and marvel at His artistry and absolutely amazing creation all around us and in us.

I have looked to God's Word for answers to everyday problems and have found answers. The more I study God's Word and think about the whole explanation for life and why we are here and why we were created and why there is evil in the world and how everything works together I am more and more convicted of my faith.

I have seen too many miracles, and received too many blessings to believe that things just happen. There has to be a higher authority, God, who sets out a path for us to follow. As humans we can chose that path or follow one that is more destructive. If we follow God's path, we will stumble, but he is always there to help.

All people have doubts at times. It is said that God never gives you more than you can handle, and many people, including me, have said God has more faith in me that I do, which is probably correct, because he would know better what I can and cannot do. It is up to me to try and do my best.

Absolutely, I believe in God, and I consider myself a Christian and not really a part of "religion" and all of religion's doctrines and traditions, etc.  I choose to follow Christ.  I believe in God due to my life experiences since I was a young child.  I have an intimate relationship with Him.  I have been a witness to His healing and miracles.

By the Grace of God go I. I've had far to many nears misses where my life, lives of my children have been spared in comparison to what could have happened how can I not believe.

Because I do not know another way, my belief in god is what gives me hope and strength.   I feel life would be empty without my beliefs, we make the decisions that effect our life and God gives us the choices.  God is constant in my life in the good and bad times.  What ever the situation the love of God is unconditional.

I believe in him because I have experienced his goodness.I have experienced his perfect peace that nothing else on earth can provide. "Come and taste and see that He is good"

I will believe God first (than anyone else in this world) because I am a true believer. Definitely, people will ask the same question nth times. Should I give them a different answer? Why should I? If most people will hold on to their "to see is to believe" belief system then it is up to them not to be able to see the invisible things of this world and the world to come. The only proof that I can give you why I do believe in God is because He can't lie (except for those who twist/misconstrue the inherent wisdom in the Word of God).
