So tell me - why when the question is asked what our reaction would be - and we answer the question with our true feelings - does it get voted down.   No quite sporting is it?

And no, I have never seen God either - but I have not seen love, or a bre

The same way I always react when scientists or when the religious say they have proof - skeptical.

If a scientist discovered God exists, then my life would progress pretty much as it has all along, because nothing has changed.  The addition of God in my world-view doesn't change my Atheistic nature at all.

No.. That isn't a paradox.  As an Atheist, I can believe that God exists without accepting him as the father of all.

In any case, if a scientist discovered that God exists, then that would mean something of God's nature was also discovered.  I would be a LOT more interested in that than I would just hearing that he existed.

God is a word we have for something apparently so unlike us that we can't use standard points of reference to describe him.  Given that, what do you think the odds are that we discover... after all the mystery is resolved and explained... that God is even close to what we expected him to be?

You are making a difference between deism and  theism.  I've never heard of an adeist.  The existence of God does not validate anyone's religion, which is the gist of this question.

Any scientific proof for the existence of God will come with some idea of that God's nature.  If you're saying that will have nothing to do with religion, you're very much mistaken.  Jesus would be crucified by the church would he suddenly reappear.

i would first read the article to see how factual it was. i would then look for other articles backing it up. then i would think that there really is a prick out there who lets so much suffering occur and people are foolish enough to worship it.

"Breaking news" is seldom true science.  The scientific method requires that results be tested and peer reviewed.  Anybody can run out and say they found proof of God and because it supports what you already believe you would not scrutinize it.

My reaction would be the same as it is now with all these folks running around talking about God speaks to them and tells them stuff—shrug my shoulders, shake my head and carry on.
