Will the world really end this year and how?
I know this has been asked before, but with the passing of Dick Clark - NOW will you believe?(just for fun!) Please answer with your best apocalypse scenario!
Well, no.
But for the best possible take on destruction you can't beat this 9 line poem by Robert Frost. Here are the first 4 lines and a link:
"Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire. . ."

I have always been intrigued by natural disasters. With that said, the poles will shift by the end of the year and the world will be thrown into chaos!
Just like in the movie "2012", everything imaginable will plague humanity and no one will be spared. Coastal lands will be flooded, California will break off into the sea, volcanoes all over the world will spew lava and ash, and the Sun will be blotted out.
Agriculture will cease to exist and the United States will unravel into distinct territories with intense allegiances. We will be thrown back into the Dark Ages and a new plague will rip mankind apart.
We will subsist on Twinkies and Red Bull (disgusting indeed). Eventually, we will all die.
That's about the best I could come up with for now!
NO, noooooo...I'll want wine and pizza. Great combo, huh?
In the blockbuster film "2012" people did survive, just a very small portion of them. I won't spoil the ending by saying who and how, though.
ooo wine and pizza! Especially legit Italian wine and pizza!
SCENARIO: Beginning in May the occupy groups start shutting down business, financed by the unions these occupy groups grow in size to be able to block roads and bridges. This prevents food from reaching city dwellers. They in turn riot, causing chaos. The city governments lose control and ask the State gov't for help. National guard are sent in. Bullets start flying. The Federal gov't declares martial law, suspends the constitution, creating civil war. The Middle East senses the that the US is unable to interfer and moves to destroy Israel with the backing of Russia. WW III breaks out and nukes start to fly. A devine intervention is all that will put an end to the suffering. Just for fun.
Great answer, but you forgot Mayans and Dick Clark. While my question was in jest, I feel that sometimes the only way we can help others get prepared or even think of preparing for any type of disaster is by joking. Bees to honey and all that.
Devine intervention could be Dick Clark and the Mayans reappearing. HEHEHE
Ha, it could be! Your scenerio is probably the most realistic. With the exception of DC and Mayans. ;-)
People voting this down---must have struck a chord.
No the world will not come to an end and we will keep on being the same ornery human beings we have always been. A lot of people will get richer off the ones that they take advantage of in spreading rumors and selling them fall out shelters and underground bunkers, survival equipment and staple goods. Having a safe fall out shelter for bad weather is okay, but not to the extremes that many are pushing it lately. The Mayans have calendars for the year 1360 and beyond. The Hopi native Americans made their predictions without a definite date and Nostradamus never said 2012 would be the end date for his supposed prediction of the end times.Who said that Y2-K was going to be such a calamity and why have many other end-time predictions have gone awry? Just take it all with a big grain of salt and try to get through the bull as long as you can. If too many folks believe the end is near, there could be shortages of staples like bread and milk, etc.beginning about November and early December. Just stock up early and let the rest fuss about it later. This too shall pass, as it says in the Good Book.
This was already too silly without adding more goofy remarks on my part. Sorry, but sometimes I guess I just can't go along with the gag in certain situations.
That's ok, whonunuwho. Sometimes though, it's easy to laugh at ourselves. With the way the economy is and how hard it has gotten for a lot of us, all you can do is laugh to make yourself feel better. :-)
From what I understand, the world will end (briefly) this year- but then it will start back up again, and most people won't even notice.
What do you do when you get to the end of a calendar? You take it down and put up a new one...
Calendarocolypse! Ooooh nooo! :-) Love it.
well no, the world wont end this year because my fruit jam packet say that the expiry date is on 12-01-2013.
Thank you! Somehow I think the humor is being lost.
This comment made me laugh.. great answer! :-P
I have to agree. My credit card doesn't expire until 1/13.
I have a child whose Bday will be 12/12/12 this year, which is definitely a once in a lifetime thing. I seem to remember that every year the world is supposed to end about December as we await January so I am going to say no, but nobody really knows it. I certainly hope not, my son and I have many more years of life to enjoy together.
I'm a bit ticked at the 12/21 thing. We have 3 children with birthdays in December - 12/9, 12/10, and 12/15. Our wedding anniversary is 12/14. After what we call 'Birthocalypse', we don't even get to enjoy Christmas!
I've written a hub on this exact issue. Feel free to check it out
Mmragie - I wonder why two people voted your answer down. If they didn't like the brevity, why not just not respond? But the very fact that you responded should be respected.
I missed this question, but since 2 people voted it down, I voted it up. Please place a link here in the comments if you are allowed by HP.
I'd worry about living and let things that are beyond your control do what they will. Always look on the bright side.
the outer world will never end in 2012. So don't worry about it
According to the Mayan calender it's supposed to end on the 21st December this year. Let's just hope they found another big rock to carry on...
The Mayans didn't account for leap years, if they had the world would have ended about 8 months ago. Maybe it did and we just haven't realized it yet and we're all living in the Twilight Zone. Hmmmm!!!!

Do you think 2010 will be the end of planet earth? Do you think life as you know it is already at the end of time? I do. I think we are headed toward a good end.Shealy Healy

If the prediction that 2012 is the end of our world is true, what will you do in the remain time. For most of us, we do the similar thing every day, and we never consider that is a waste of time. However, if the rest of your time is very few, and you know it. And you are very healthy to do what you...

The world is supposed to end on Dec. 21, 2012. Am I still going to have to pay my bills?
by mlizardo2010 13 years ago
I recently saw a show on the history channel that was about Nostradamus and his predictions for the end of the world. It also spoke of the Mayans prediction and how other religions back up the theory in their own way and all those theories conclude that the end of the world will be Dec 21,...

Are there real signs the world is coming to an end? What are they?Do you believe any doomsday predictions about the world ending? What would happen if they start coming true? Which predictions about the world ending are most believable?

Is it true that the Mayan Calendar ends in 2012 which means the world will end by May 21, 2012. Do really Planet X exist? Is it going to strike on earth, is really the pole going to shift according to Nasa in 2012?Anyone knows the truth?
