Does God belong to any religion?

My question is if God does not follow any religion then who should we? I asked this question to Priests, pastors and also self proclaimed healers none of whom could answer me satisfactorily. I feel religion is an unnecessary burden on humans.

This question is an old one, repeated innumerable times in the course of the centuries. By our understanding of the concept of god, we either conceive it as outside of our Universe (all that is) or we conceive it as being the Universe (all that is). The different ways we conceive god raises the different gods humanity has acknowledged in our history.

Now, under either conception, religion isn't something that a god would "follow"; any conceived god would "inspire" a "following" among human beings, and the formal structure and thinking that such following would adopt is what we recognize as "religion". So religion would follow the god or gods of their conception.
The fact that there is no evidence that can be found and test about the existence of any god, only proves that a god is nothing that we can perceive.

The conception of any god is an inside job in our consciousness, we cannot assert the validity of such conception beyond our inner space as a living sentient being. But, by sharing our inner conceptions to each other, we can choose to associate with other human beings that we "perceive" as having a similar conception of god, thus giving birth to a "religion", a "bind" that expresses our association and our choice.

Is there a necessary and sufficient need for making that choice and establishing that association? Not that it would be readily available and demonstrable. Only our educated preference and/or our perceived convenience would rule the making of the choice and push us into any existing association found in our environment or inspiring us to make a brand new one. Nothing changes in the Universe, no matter what choice we make, and only our personal story would reflect, after the fact, the choice, and inasmuch as we each affect other parts of the Universe, be reflected in them.

Which god or religion should we follow? Only the god we've conceived and the religion we've chosen, or none if our thinking is advising us that a conception of a god is a vain matter and that we can find worthier reasons for associating with our fellow human beings than what any religion would supply. The ball is always in our side of the net…

Having said what I said above, a question comes to the mind: Can a religion without a god exist?

There is no "a god", but only The God, who heeds not the unbeliever, or his pointless words. There is no excuse for not seeking deliverance from vanity by repenting personal sin.

Only The God? Which one, please identify [it] so those who don't know you from a frog crocking in the pond, can stay away from a god that inspire such wrongeousness... wink

True to your creed, the lost. I have no oil to spare for your lamp. Go find your own. Your sins are your responsibility. Only you're to blame for your choices and I'll worship the True God all the while. The One and Only Who brings redemption.

Oh, I get it, another "blessed brother" carrying the torch to blaze the world with the "good news"... Sorry, no good news nor original. Somebody thought them up before and after... be careful while playing with your fire... donut club boy!

Dear brother, you are on a right track. Only when the mind is free to explore whether it is science or religion that one can find truth and not otherwise. I wish you all luck in your noble endevour, please keep up this spirit and  spread it to all.

Your soul better belong to the One and Only God and Father of Jesus Christ, Creator/Savior. That's all there is for you. Being the sinner, any other imagining concerning God's place is total blasphemy.

Can you imagine, a statement like this is a total blasphemy for a non-believer, a capital sin against humanity, and, unfortunately for you, the payback will be utmost misery and abjection in the course of your remaining life... enjoy it!!!

Nah, I'm having a dotted line tattooed around my neck, with the words, "Islam, cut here, for I worship Him who abhors Antichrist!"

There was a man, the Son of Man, whose name was taken in vain by the worshipers of Sol Invictus and made into the Christ. Constantine and Eusebius made sure men will know only what Sol Invictus is under such name. There your Antichrist is hidden.

Just as well, ... why is that when challenged, those who feel "inspired" by the fabricated history of a "man, son of a god," get testy and protest blasphemy, being the story one just of many similar in an era of popular ignorance?

that's not worth reading till it makes sense, so I'll not waste anymore time with the willfully blind. I realize it's difficult for you to face a follower of Jesus Christ who doesn't feel the need to defend the Almighty God. Vanity is consuming you.

Follower? It is important to differentiate between understanding what one follows and being brainwashed into abject following. Why is that Christians or better said ex-christians, are the largest group within Atheism worldwide?

Reading the Christian Bible; old testament; I read where God was responsible for many religions.  The Christian religion has it's roots in Judaism; the father of Judaism was Abram and also he had wives who were Buddhist and one of his sons started the Moslem religion.  Don't forget Soloman and his foreign wives and foreign religions.

It teaches religious tolerance  I suppose.

It is very unfortunate that even priests, pastors and others did not give you an satisfactory answer. Just think, why ? It is because these very people have made everything about religion a very complex and elusive out of comprehension of a common man. Do you agree to a bizarre thought such as eternal hell or Christ to bear sins of humans in order to save them from the eternal hell. These crazy things have so much frightend the common people that their physical existence on earth itself has become very miserable. People think constantly while engaging in whatever activity that they are committing something wrong and sin. Also a thought that all humans are sinners is also self degrading. Such kinds of fear-triggering thoughts have been inserted in religion that the common people have regarded themselves some kinds of criminals or severe offenders. This has deprived the people of a decent and peaceful living. The purpose of religions and God thing was to lighten the burden on humans and show them the real light to live their lives in a dignified way but reverse has happened. Instead of instilling the noble, glorious and pious thoughts into the human minds, preachers of all kinds of religions have spread trash and awakwarness all around. Though I admit that there are exceptions also but they are very rare and sometimes their thoughts are not heeded to at all terming them as not the words of God or beyond the prescribed law as per religious texts. All this is astonishing and beyond reason. All people irrespective of religions should reclaim the real essence of religions and purge all religions of all such kind of illogicity and irrationality. How can words of a text be called divine if these are not appealing to common sense. God is omniscient and omnipotent and so He cannot utter such absurd words, only possibility being is that these have been mischeviously inserted by the vested interests just to make illegal profits. People should not become so gullible to be fooled by these elements and all the sane thinking persons should take over reins of religions and teach the people the real essence of religions and God. Religions themselves are not so lowely but irrational people have made them so. Hopefully, people have become aware and have started questioning the trash stuff. This is the silver lining and it is certain that a real make up of all religions will spring out from a real churning. My dear, your question is very relevant and you yourself can see truth
