In some sects of Christianity the belief is yes and in others no. The truth is, there's no real way for any of us to know. My opinion is that if you feel that believing in Christ is the way to get there, that's great. But, I think of equal importance is following his example. With no offense or derision intended, it has been my observation that many who consider themselves "saved" fall far short of Jesus' example. It's one thing to believe in the man, it's quite another to live his example.
For what it's worth, I think that the loving God described by Jesus is not one who would discriminate against individuals who have not had the opportunity to hear of him. Or those who lived his example but did not choose to be "saved." So I guess that my personal answer to this question is no.
