   Does praying for peace help?
   
   Every since I was a child attending Catholic school I was taught to pray for peace and now as an adult I hear everyone call for prayers to end the violence and killing in the world. Do you think praying for peace helps?

   In my opinion, Nope it doesnt, to God, praying for peace is the same as praying for the lotto

   Let's take a stab at looking at it from a secularistic position. Prayer can set an objective in the mind of the one who prays. The individual's internal objectives influence his outward behavior, and so he would conduct himself in a way he thinks would move him closer to achievement. He may, for example, vote for a leader he believes would be more likely to avoid war, he may resist paying taxes to support one, he may lobby his representatives to stop one, or he may boycott the products of manufacturers that also make military equipment. Such behavior even by one individual adds a measure of pressure on the decision makers who choose war over peace, and by doing so prayer for peace helps. In a similar manner, prayer for any other objective would help, as long as there is a realistic basis in the object. Even a prayer to win a lottery might motivate one to buy a ticket without which he could not, and so it cannot be said it would have no effect.
   
   A psychologist might call this a form of self-fulfilling prophecy. A religious person would say there is more to it than that. Looking at the latter perspective is not the purpose here, though. The point is that prayer can help.

      Well said, from a mechanistic (continuity-based) viewpoint. The continuity of physical reality is that upon which science is based.
      
      But that ignores creation. I have seen such creation, like the miracle I witnessed on Wilshire Blvd., LA, 1977

   obviously not. if it did, there would be peace everywhere. the only way to have peace is for everyone to have faith in each other and quit with this god stuff.

      You have to define what you mean by peace--end of war, peace at work, peace at home, peace within.

      why? i'm talking about peace in general. at home, war etc. praying does give peace to some peoples minds though. and who are you to tell me to define anything?

   Many Christians will disagree with me........some will call me out, and others will draw forth an arguement.
   
   
   His Story, has already been written.
   
   His Story, is the story of the Jewish nation, Israel...............God called them into being, God allowed or even decreed punishment for misdeeds.   God IS the God of Israel, and in the end, God will SAVE them.
   
   Peace is a noble goal for humans.
   
   But not for God....................Christians, worldwide, speak of love, tolerance, and gentility.......worthwile goals...........but it is NOT how the world will end.
   
   I AM in support of the Jews, the Israelies,...........but their world will not end in peace.........until Jesus comes again.
   
   There WILL be wars and trying times.
   Political positioning and unrest..........distrust.
   
   "world peace", " peace in the Middle East".......they , serve, ONLY to delay the ending.
   
   
   Even so,

      Praying for the Kingdom is good, but so is praying for peace. If you want your fellow humans not to suffer, then pray for peace. God will deliver peace in His time, but he will reward you for your act of love.

   The real question should be:
   
   Can praying for peace do any harm?
   
   I do not think it can hurt, so I will choose to pray for peace--there are many levels of peace--we may not end a war with a prayer, but we may find inner peace with a prayful request.

   Praying for peace does help, depending on your state of mind. Some may say it does not, but if you believe in the power of prayer than yes it does.

   Yes. Prayers for peace helps. It needs everyone to have the heart to pray sincerely. I do believe that we will have peace in the world when everyone starts to believe in their prayers.

   Most people who pray, pray for the wrong thing.
   
   If they are afraid, then their prayers are for fear. They get their answer immediately in the form of more fear.
   
   If someone prays for wishing they'd win the lottery, then they get more wish. And if you look at the meaning of "wish," you will see that wish is an individual separated from the object of desire by a distance in time and/or space. They get more distance.
   
   God is a god of abundance and love. He will give you whatever you ask for. Just be careful how you ask and what you ask for.
   
   So, yes! Praying for peace helps. But how many people actually do that? If you pray with worry about the state of war in the world, you get more worry and state of war. What does praying for peace look like? It is feeling, living and knowing peace. It is giving peace and love to others. It is expecting peace to continue, despite the evidence that it might be otherwise. Prayer is an act of creation. It is an act of faith (confidence) and humility.

    I do. When you pray for peace, or just pray in general, you are in a peacefull state. Now I dont just mean "peaceful" as being quiet and rerelaxed, but actually being "full of peace" for rhat small amount of time.
