I was asked to sign a petition to save puppies that are used as LIVE BAIT in shark fishing. I DID NOT SIGN. I am against using dogs as LIVE BAIT, as much as I am against shark fishing. The reason I DID NOT sign the petition, however, was that the people who wrote the petition were asking for punishing fishermen by JAILING them for 10 years. The country in question is MEXICO. What I heard about MEXICAN PRISONS is enough for me to say that no LIVING THING including dogs should be there even for a day. How HUMANE or EFFECTIVE this hunger for an EYE-FOR-AN-EYE, a TOOTH-FOR-A-TOOTH?

just like the fact that it is not GOD sending people to hell but people themselves by the choices they make. their choice to disobey GOD and reject HIM. nice analogy, though you didnt mean it as such, it just made me think of it.
Is there any country in the world where having prisons stopped people from committing crimes? USA is one of those countries whose penitentiary system is ineffective. Murders are still committed, aren't they?
Thank you, Martie, for responding to my call to answer this question. Yes, I think punishment is cruelty in another form. If we don't know how to solve the PROBLEM yet, it does not mean we should cry out for MORE BLOOD.
may i ask kalini what your solution would be? should we allow criminals to run free committing crimes until we find this solution?
I feel emotional even thinking about the subject and can see how decent people find the cruelty hard to stomach. I also agree that it is the judicial system's place to determine the punishment.
It is not for us and anyone launching a petition to determine punishment. Let the law take its course--------petitions change laws. People do have the right to speak up. If Rosa Parks didn't speak up she'd be at the back of the bus.
With all due respect, I don't think there is any credibility to speaking of God's behalf. And there is very little humanity in judging - who deserves what and for what...Judgment, thirst for blood, punishment, righteousness is very human, not HUMANE
let me ask you this...what sort of punishment should a child rapist/murderer get?
tlmcgaa70 comment made me wonder - where is the line? What is cruel and what is not cruel? Is 'killing' - ending life - in whatever way in order to eat in order to live not cruel? Talking about God - Did he really say: "Go EAT the animals!" Pondering
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things./everything dies. how they die though, that is what makes the difference, where the line is drawn. a swift painless death one of terror &
If there was no judgment the evil people would always have their way. If there was no judgement there would be no laws. Judging is defining something as wrong. What, is everything good, even torture and murder?
