Why are we unique?
I read in another hub that so far there have been 107 billion human beings born into this world, each distinct and unique. The point of the hub was to inspire us to achieve our potential and not be tied down in negativity. So is this just a feel good assertion? Doesn't matter whether or not its true, as long as it motivates you, believe it with all your might. If each human being is unique, what makes us that way?
We're all like snowflakes, no 2 are exactly alike. What makes us that way? Lots of things....
we have different DNA, different experiences, we live in different places & know different people. We speak different languages, eat different foods... we see the stars differently depending on where we are. The reasons why are endless!
I just wrote a hub about redheads being a minority in the world... after I completed it I dug a little deeper to see just how unique I was... there are less than 22,534 people on the entire planet who have red hair, blue eyes, and are left handed like I am... now of those 22,534 you still need to figure in blood type, height, weight, birth order, country of birth, primary language spoken, and a bunch of other factors....
Quite clearly it is easy to see how I am the only one just like me & that doesn't even have to involve huge accomplishments or being "outstanding" in any way.
Our uniqueness is physical and emotional. As noted, the DNA for each of us is different, even identical twins have distinctive DNA. However, more importantly is that our uniqueness comes from how we perceive things, how do we analyze, what do we like and dislike? Even if two people answered a list of 1,000 questions about likes and dislikes with identical answers, there would be a uniqueness that was different in each of them that caused them to come up with the answers. The fact that the answers might all be the same in the end is a coincidence.
We are individuals, and that is a gift bestowed upon us by our creator so that each person can take responsibility for their own actions, voice his own opinions and achieve our ultimate goals.
Yes, diversity is built into who we are. I like Mom Kat's image - we are all like snowflakes. I call the deep level of this difference Soul. I believe we all share a common Spirit of peace and love, and also all have a unique Soul that is fulfilled only by living a particular truth, expressing a unique creativity, offering a unique service to a particular group of people, animals, plants, and in a particular ecosystem.
Let us all live in the Peace of Spirit and discover and embody the unique journey of our own soul.
we´re unique because we are the only animals that can commit the same mistake twice, such a getting married twice, falling in love twice, cut your finger in the same place twice, eat the food that make you sick more than twice, etc.
And all this because our head and thoughts are everywhere, but in the most basic matters pertaining to our own existence in this world.
My oldest son was about a junior in high school when he asked me a very similar question. The answer we arrived at still holds true to us today, although now we both have degrees in philosophy. There is a bit of hell on earth and a bit of heaven. By being unique we have the choice between the two. What we choose is of our own free will. Without uniqueness there would be no choice. Only in uniqueness do we see beauty. Diversity is a celebration. Without uniqueness in others we would not see beauty, without uniqueness in ourselves others would not see our beauty. We choose to see the beauty in others that is unique to them, conversely they can see our uniqueness which can be beauty to them – their choice.
The wonderful miracle of uniqueness is what gives life its beauty, and our choice to see it.
Thanks Eric for reposting. My bad for accidentally deleting it. I'm still processing all these answers.

If man originated from one source, Adam and Eve, how come we have white and black people?Adam and Eve were either black or white. And if they really had the same skin color, where do other skin colors originate from. And also, why do we have different races? What really happened to us?

That is the crux of the problem. The opening to belief. Why are we unique? How did we come to be so? Why are we so very different? Why didn't the evolutionary process produce anything that comes close?I'm not really interested in hearing religious theories. I don't need anyone to speak for their...

Is the God of the Bible, the same as the God of the Koran, and Bhagavad-Gita.If there is one God, why so many different "scriptures". Why not just one book that tells the entire history of planet Earth and the entire cosmos?
