For me, the state of the world is a current state. And it is important to be realistic about it, sickness and wonder both included. So that leads to realism.
There are two bases for optimism: One is that animals, particularly mammals, can solve their own problems. Ill mammals heal. Mammals in groups stabilize their social communities and create emotional harmony. The second is that, even more so, human beings have the innate capacity to solve our own problems.
The world we are creating right now is full of problems. We are the solution. All the answers lie within our intrinsic abilities.
The result is realistic optimism. Recent work in the field of emotional intelligence shows that realistic optimism generates ideal healthy balance in both mind and body. Dwelling in this state, we face our problems and solve them, instead of creating more.
I hope others will join me.
