I recently heard a preacher on television say that Christians should not use the law and the Ten Commandments as a guide for their life.

I agree with you 100%. The preacher did say that we are now free from the Law because of what Jesus did on the cross, but to say that we should not live by the Ten Commandments had me scratching my head.
Thanks for your comment and for explaining the different forms of the Law.
I hope I misunderstood him, but he clearly said we should not follow the Ten Commandments because if we break one we break all.
Some preachers cause more harm than they do good, and should not be preaching at all. We know in our own hearts what is logical, decent and right without anyone making such silly statements like we are idiots. These naysayers need not be followed.
Hi D.William, I totally agree; to love the Heavenly Father we "must" follow His commandments. There is no two ways about it.
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[d] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[e] 40
Of course we are free from the bondage of the Law, but if we follow the law of love we will not murder, or steal, or lie or do any of the things the 10 commandments talk about.
If you both wish to follow the letter, be my guest. I don,t and still havent murdered anyone, but have you two ever lied or stolen? I have.
Very well said. Thanks for taking time to answer this question.
I follow the law of love, not the 10 commandments. Why put the yoke of laws on believers that are impossible to follow.
