What ? ! ?
Thrive ? ! ?
You've seen too many Hollywood disaster movies. Do you really think anyone alive right now in the US would thrive if there were an apocalypse? OK, the Minnenites and the Amish, maybe. But I'll admit up front, I'm spoiled, lazy and used to the highest standard of living on the planet. When the apocalypse comes my best scenario is to be killed in the first wave. I don't like being cold, I love my air conditioning and being able to go into a grocery store and pick out delectables from all over the planet. Plowing, herding animals, making my own clothes, no indoor plumping and going to bed when the sun goes down 'cause there's no lights to see by is not a fun way to live.
And, considering the wave of religious hysteria that would roll over most of the survivors I'm thinking, not a good time to be a surviving woman. You know, the religious leaders would find some way to blame it on the women or whoever else they want to get rid of. And since I've never been good at social interactions I'd piss someone off right quick like.
So I don't think I Must survive through the disaster. But if I do I would make the best of it. You can adjust to a lower standard of subsistence living if you have to. But would you want to?
