How do you feel about the Pope resigning?

    How do you feel about the Pope resigning?

    Is it a humble service, or is it selfish?  Right or wrong decision?  Criticisms?

    I feel the man made a sensible decision. Only a fool doesn't know when to quit.

    Something is hinky. Either he is terminal, there is a scandal, or it is political. Perhaps all three. Given the history of the Papacy, any other reason is just cover.

      It wouldn't surprise me if he's terminal (or close to it).  I doubt the other two.

    I feel something is definitely wrong. The pope normally only retires from death. This has only happened 5 times in history in the Catholic church. Something is definitely gone terribly wrong.

    I would say that because he fully believes in his ministry, and is concerned about his ability to complete his work, that he is making the right decision for the church.  If he feels that he is needed and cannot perform his duties, then he is choosing what is best for his church and his followers.  They need a man who can do what he is called to do.

    Although, I am not exactly sure what a Pope does(blame it in my indifference to know,the papacy is not one of my favorite reading endeavors, sorry ,Catholics but I still cannot find a reason why should I read about it) , I believe Benedict should have not been chosen to be a Pope to begin with. He was already way into  his 70's when he became Pope and the Catholic church entrusted him to lead over a billion Catholics worldwide? That is quite a responsibility for a man of this age.The vatican knew that his days are numbered as a Pope even at that time when they chose him, and we wonder why he resigns because of health reasons? TSK TSK TSK!!!.... ! And this is supposed to be a spiritually guided unanimous decision by the people who are considered the "CHOSEN FEW"?
