   Do you understand the parables Jesus used to descibe the Kingdom of God?
   
   Jesus Christ used many parables in His ministry to descirbe the Kingdom of God. But what I find to be odd is the fact that very few, if any churches teach anything about them or their meaning. Do you understand the parables of the Kingdom of God?

   There are quite a few.  Anyone in particular: The sower, hidden treasures, weeds, good fish, bad fish .... Matthew 13+ Or do you require a synopsis of them all.
   
   They are meant to be understood by God-lovers and aspiring souls. Being a church-goer or a priest means little in the eyes of God, unless of course, we strive to love Him and do His Will.  Remember that the educated in Christ's time knew very little of the Kingdom. They had the books and were all scholars, so they were not dumb. Still, they were dumb in Spiritual things. That is why our Lord had to exercise His divine authority against them so many times. They were, in large part, obstructors of the Law. Pretty ironic, don't you think.

      manatit44- Yes, I agree. revelation behind the meaning of each of the parables that Jesus used regarding the Kingdom is or should be important to all of us. And this is the point I asking. Do we know the meanings of His parables. Thanks and blessing.

      Parable two in Matthew is about 'mixing'. Even with sincerity, love of God and good intentions, we are still fragile and need to be ever vigilant. Indeed prudence is spoken of a great deal in the scriptures. We need to choose our friends carefully.

      manatit44- Thank you again. I am wondering, however, how much of Matthew 13: 14-19 apply to many of christians in this day and age. And how important it is to seek God's Kingdom. Thanks for your answers and comments.

      Matthew 13:14-19 is crucial! for without seeking we will not find, and without knocking the door will not be opened. The Christ exhorts us to seek first the Kingdom of Heaven after which we will get all else. Our Goal is God's Kingdom.

   The first thing to notice is that the parables are recorded almost identically in three of the gospel records, (Matthew 13.31,32; Mark 4.30-32; Luke 13.18,19) although in varying contexts. Each of these records put a different emphasis on the parable. While Matthew refers to `the kingdom of heaven', Mark and Luke refer to `the kingdom of God'. It must be noted here that these two phrases, `the kingdom of heaven' and `the kingdom of God,' are the same; neither term refers to a kingdom beyond the skies, or to some abstract movement spreading throughout the world through the work of Christianity. Careful study of the Bible makes clear that God's kingdom is to be here, literally and visibly on earth.

      The sowing farmer represents ministry teaching or discipling. The 'good soil' refers to those who are yearning to hear the word and most importantly, receptive. Jesus encourages us not to cast our pearls before swines. Purity and longing are essentia
