Have you ever considered that weather patterns are the earth's emotions?
That the earth, as a living being, also has 'moods'?
That humans who are HSP (Highly Sensitive People, a trait of about 15 - 20 percent of the population) may be especially subject to being influenced by the earths 'moods'?
Have you noticed that birds and creatures besides humans are affected by the weather? Perhaps not in their mood, but certainly in their behavior.
Have you heard the saying that e-motions are 'energies in motion'? And could that tie in with the many-layered energies of earth, sun, moon and cosmos?
You know of 'the butterfly effect' which says that the flap of a butterfly's wings are felt on the other side of the universe? That may not be an exact quote, but the principle is everything has an effect on everything 'else' because it is all inter-connected. Maybe it is out of context - I'll look it up later.
Besides all that, over the past year as I moved from the west coast of the States to Germany for a year and then back to California last week, I definitely have felt the effect of weather and climate!
Germany had one of its darkest years on record. It seemed like we rarely saw the sun all year. It was wet and cold for most of 12 month, and in late June still sweater weather at mid-day. I felt it in my bones, muscles and nerves and it is unlikely that my mood was unaffected.
California, on the other hand, has been over 100 degrees each day since we arrived. Hot and dry. Sunshine all day every day. I have not the pains that apparently were weather-related. I feel very 'different' here than in Germany, including outlook.
In Germany, there were other factors such as my not knowing the language, but I knew I was withdrawing. I enjoyed the feeling for awhile, to not have much interaction.
Now, in the sunshine and another setting, I feel naturally more outgoing.
Are there other factors which affect us even more than the weather? My mood sometimes becomes withdrawn or distant when I have been too focused on certain things, sometimes after writing HP answers. So I watch, am aware, and keep things in balance. If I am too drawn out, or affected, there are ways to return to being present.
How can we stabilize ourselves when our moods are so affected that we 'lose our center'? For another time....
