The realms between Spiritual battles, good and evil, is a matter of choice.Satan, the ruler of the earth, still has to work under God's direction. Jonah, if you want to look at it this way, was unemployed in the belly of the fish, because he didn't do God's will. Job couldn't work, because God allowed Satan to test him.
God will use Satan to help build our Christian character, look at the 23rd Psalm, You prepare a table for me in the midst of mine enemies or yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
The first question I always ask myself, anymore, is what is God trying to teach me. I have found that my trials are shorter, because I don't fight the lesson. I just give up and say, Yes Lord, teach me.
Can God teach us a lesson in contentment during spells of unemployment? Of course He Can! Can He teach us to rely totally on Him? When we're unemployed, we don't have much choice!
Sometimes our choices put us in these binds. Sometimes, if we have strayed, God allows trials and tribulations, to bring us back to Him.
Look in the Old Testament at how God handled the spiritual wanderings of the Israelites. God will do what is best for us, though it may be difficult to see at times.
