Many assume that Judas is in hell for betraying Jesus, yet in Matthew 19 Jesus told his disciples that they would sit on 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel (presumably they got one each). So either despite his actions Judas is/will sit on a throne, or Jesus didn't have the faintest idea Judas would betray him at the time he made this statement. Regarding Matthias, he wasn't a disciple when Jesus made this statement so Jesus was talking to Judas, not to him.
sort by best latest
So when Jesus told Judas he would sit on a throne he was being economical with the truth then as you clearly point out this statement to Judas was later overturned.
i am open to correction if someone has scripture in context to show otherwise but as far as I can see this says it all.
Again The Apostles who Pen This were not yet of full enlightenment They Judged Judas and I believe they have done so wrongly. There is Both truth and falseness within the Good Book Tares and Golden wheat they grow together until the reapers reap
DH-- dont you thing that the phrase used many times has a meaning.? "endure to the end"? Dont we have to consider all of scripture not just a few verses?
sinbad- I have no interest in your opinions- they have no value - scripture only has value
Celafoe, when Jesus told Judas he would sit on a throne, did he add any conditions when he made that statement? If Judas did not make it in the end, Jesus should have known from the beginning, and said only 11 would sit on thrones.
Judas died afterward. He was according to the prophets suppose to betray Yahshua and that was all he was meant to do.
I think we are of similar mind here. Clearly Judas did repent otherwise Jesus statement that he would sit on a throne is null and void.
25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place."
then there is this scripture
Acts 1:25-26 celafoe you must be new to discerning the Bible If you think It is Our Lord and Saviour speaking Here for It is Not But It is indeed worldly Men still who have not come to their full potential it is the Apostle and their Ill reasonings
sinbad--- so if Jesus did not say it then it is not valid- sorry that just is not true, if it were then then we would have a very small set of scriptures to use.
If Jesus did not say it, it is human opinion. Why assume that everything else is scripture when it was included by subsequent committees of men? It's a huge leap of faith to believe the church bishops got it right.
Why is it when the babes get offended the cry scripture only All scripture is open to proofing and debate for instruction and for teaching have we not been using scripture? I am not a scripture Lawyer that is a losing game when Satan enters the ring.
Sinbadsailorman and Disappearinghead-How can you call someone else a babe and how can you think Judas will sit on one of the 12 thrones?
Do you even read the scriptures? With what understanding? I am writing a hub on Judas
So you believe Judas retains his position on a throne alongside the other apostles?
DH.... My comment says it all I think.
Only one scripture is needed to know
The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
