The Holy Spirit is absolutely a teacher. As Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit is here and teaches us. In dreams, in my work, even in the moment I'm speaking to someone, the Holy Spirit teaches me what is going to happen, what is going to be said, and the kind of man I need to be through it all.
I was raised in one of the religions which rejects the living God, claiming God (and the things of God) was/were only alive during "old testament" times.
The truth is, Jesus and the OT are intimately intertwined. And, as Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit is a constant companion, and we are able to "walk in the Spirit" (with the Holy Spirit) and not sin.
Part of each and every day, part of "pray without ceasing", is a constant contact, a constant awareness, a constant peace (and even a little excitement) of the presence of God through the Holy Spirit.
More important than all of this is the LOVE I feel when walking with the Holy Spirit, living in a way which is in agreement with the spirit of the Holy Spirit. When Elisha received Elija's spirit, a double portion, he went off and immediately parted the water, just as Elijah had done. Then, in his life, many of Elisha's miracles were very similar to those Elijah had performed. Compelled by the spirit within them, they lived very similarly.
For us, we realize the spirit of Elijah is really the Spirit of Almighty God. And, if we have that same spirit, we ought to see the same kinds of acts in our own lives: feeding the hungry, helping widows, standing against false religion, and even seeing the power of the Holy Spirit raise the dead.
