   Is there only one God?
   
   The native Indians had their 'God'. Each religion/culture has their God (Christians, Africans, Hebrews, etc.). I believe this is one God seen from different views. What do you see?

   Eventually we'll all find out who was right! :-)
   Although the plural in some of these passages have raised questions.
   Genesis 1-26 "And God said, let us make man in (our) image."
   Genesis 3:22  "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of (us), to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and (live for ever):
   Some have speculated that the (spirit) within us that gets around in these "shells" we call bodies never ever really dies.

      So what is that saying, that there is a God in each of us? If it is then I believe that.

   Maybe we each have one God in our hearts, but perhaps all of us know him by a different name. Do names really matter all that much as long as there is good in our hearts?

      Yes it matters because our God gave Himself certain names you have to remember Him by these names only, if you believe in His true religion which in my opinion is Islam. The holy book of Muslims, the Qura'an contains 99 name of our God, Allah.

      I watched the video and did not connect it to the question. Perhaps I phrased the question wrong. I only believe that there is only one God. I wondered if every culture around the world belives that their God is the same as everyone elses.

      Yes The Examiner , I am sorry it seems that I put the wrong link. As to the belief in one God, As Muslim, I do personally believe in one God and so all  followers of the holy books .

   Hi friend I'm a hindu from India.Hindus usually say there are about 330,000,000 Gods!According to our belief,each and every aspect of life can be connected to a particular God.That is, to free us of any obstacles we worship Lord Ganesha, to bless us with wealth we worship Goddess Lekshmi and so on.But please don't misinterpret it.Though it's said that these many Gods are there as per our belief, the basic way of living and the rules to attain salvation are all obtained from the various vedhas and scriptures.And personally I believe, there is just one God but with plenty of synonyms like Jesus,Krishna,Allah,Buddha etc...And at the same time I would strongly oppose and just hate when a person says there is just one God and he is the one belonging to there religion alone.Mainly some missionaries brainwashing people from other religions into theirs by offering helps, promises and all.Allow each one to stick onto their own beliefs.Why should these idiots do such dirty businesses???

      I was not inferring that there was one God which belonged to one religion. I simply wondered if different cultures/religions would argue that their God was their own God and nobody elses.

   I agree that there is only one God seen through different perspectives just as different angles reveal a spectrum of colours from a crystal.
   
   God has infinite names, qualities, forms, and divine activities that he may or may not manifest to a person based on his level of faith, conception of god, and inclination. God cannot be seen through just religion or just philosophy. You need a strong combination of both.
   
   Religion without a strong philosophy is fanaticism, and philosophy without religion is mental speculation.
   
   According to the philosophy of Sanatana Dharma (The eternal religion of the soul, irrespective of what religion it externally follows), God is all of the following
   
   1) The most beautiful
   2) The wealthiest
   3) The strongest
   4) The most famous
   5) The most knowledgeable
   6) And yet, the greatest renouncer

      That is exactly how I feel. One God seen and felt differently maybe by each person, culture, etc. I believe in God but I do not see people divided by religions.

   You exists and so the Universe exists. Without you, it does not. Not for you, anyway.

   People say that India has many Gods, and perhaps the Indians themselves do not always help by their answers. But Hinduism teaches about what is called Brahman or God, the Absolute Reality. So one simply needs to pray and enquire with love and Faith.
   
   Creation is diverse and this diversity is quite healthy. Indeed life itself as we know it will not exist without it. One son is a lawyer and another a doctor, yet a third a musician. Love is appreciated by virtue of knowing the hate that exists, and we follow the Light much more after experiencing the darkness. It's all part of the process. Ultimately, Truth is One, but we call it by different names.
   
   Let this be. Simply pray, serve, meditate .. We do not need extra elephants on our heavy shoulders.
