Can a person be a Christian and not believe in the bible?

I mean literally not just using the name? Does Christian not mean you believe the word of God literally and read it as He tells you to do? Can you call yourself Christian which of course is "of Christ" and believe just anything you want to? Could anyone tell me one scripture in the bible that says just love everybody and do whatever you want to and everyone is going to heaven? The scripture that says sin does not matter Jesus died for it so just keep on doing it even after you know Christ? I would appreciate those scriptures, thank you.

I just wondered because it does seem many who say they are Christian believe people who do not even believe in Christ are going to heaven too. Many also think we can go on sinning against the commandments just because Jesus died for our sins?

Beth, you have a point about following Jesus. However, the gospels you speak of do not meet a criterion for authenticity--at all. Consequently, the NT is Pollyannalana's best source for knowing the true Jesus. This is a simple, historical fact.

Brad: We study His teachings but Holy Spirit "brings us to it" or "reveals" TRUTH! One can "read" but only Jn 6:44 The Father draws! Holy Spirit "works" and IT"S DONE & not we ourselves! Humble oneself is the key! II Chron 7:14!

Amen! Then PLEASE BELIEVE the "Chronological Order" of the Bible! The New Covenant (Jer 31:31-33;Heb8:10;10:16)! "OBSERVE" the disciples (Matt 28:20)! "WAIT" for HS (Acts 1:4;2:38; 2:42)! OR Gal 1:6-9 "ACCURSED!"

flp: Can a person be a soul (spirit) & not believe in GOD?

Yes, but would be "ignorant" as would no belief in Parachutes!

If the Bible isn't reliable then how can Jesus Christ, God, & the ten commandments all be? There are from the Bible. The Bible is God's word. Don't believe Jesus Christ if you don't believe Bible.

Spiritual - YES! But Bible gives instructions on what we should do to remain "anointed by God or Holy Spirit." One can "grieve the Holy Spirit" (Eph 4:30) by continuing in sin but He will not leave us! Confession & Repentance is key!

We certainly know that, don't we, for ones to put Christians and anti Christian (anti-Christ) in the same group bound for heaven? Utterly ridiculous, isn't it? Love your fiddle picture.

Well I am sure it is all tied together. I use to listen to a Jew turned Christian and he sure had some understanding as you can imagine. Like finding Jesus in the Old Testament and just all the knowledge he brought knowing the old into the new!
