What makes the issue of sex and sexuality a threat to so many religionists and those who have
an extremely conservative, traditional, and/or fundamentalist mindset and psychology?
I think the words of the question is already based on your opinion. But to answer your question, there is a time and place for everything under the sun, there is a time to eat, sleep, laugh ,cry, a time to be intamate , people are out if step in timing of many things. What example do half dressed naked people message to our new generation of Doctors, lawyers, scientist , and many more prestigious professional careers. I notice that you have great respect and a love for Vanessa Williams I think she has set a good model for our young ladies to reach high, when she won Miss America ,how did she dress? She was not only beautiful on the outside ,but she reflected her inner beauty that showed outward.
Sex is ugly when people misuse it. Or use it to control others for gain.
Again I do not entertain others pleasures ! So it would be a false step to act as Though I do by making a statement as you have. To me it's disgusting. The truth!
Sex, sexuality and the practice of same is, as the candy bar, a good and wholesome thing. Over indulgence, abuse and exploitation leads to obsession, or in the case of the candy bar obesity, diabetes and possibly an early death.
What we are seeing today with regard to sex is purely exploitative for the purposes of profit at the cost of the dignity of a supposed civilized society.
My perspective on this comes rooted in an Atheistic philosophy and an historical appreciation of what happens to a society that reduces itself to a definition of sexual promiscuity, as we are doing today.
Your opening question is stereotypical and uniformed. Perhaps, a rewording to, "Is the current expression of sexuality in America a threat to society or is the opposition to it an over exaggeration.", would be more open to an unbiased conversation.
.
Thanks cjhunsinger for the nice thought. Excuse me for using your space for comment. I was replying to Austistar on space available.
Sexuality is as individual as people are. If everyone would quit trying to control other people's sexuality, we might have a better world where two people of the same mindset could find each other and enjoy each other. I, for one am sapiosexual - "One who finds intelligence the most sexually attractive feature". But I certainly don't DEMAND that everyone feel this way! To each his own, live and let live. Keep your nose out of everyone's business. Fix your own house and quit trying to tell everyone else how to fix theirs!
This is true but people willingly submit their business here ,they did not give this information by force . They volunteered. And HP allowed it to post .the only problem I see now again is you telling people what to do again. Follow your own advice.
Obviously, Kiss and Tales, I would never, ever be attracted to you!
Obviously that thought should have never come to your mind. Because I do entertain the pleasures of others. I am only concern about my relationship with the Heavenly Father. That the truth be spoken . And the truth now is your words are disgusting
I have noticed that the bible seems to be most preoccupied with sex and more specifically with a man's penis (circumcision, scrotum and testicles). Why is that?
And to K&T - You know how to make the point that you are NOT sapiosexual!
I learned this long ago what you eat is what you are, also what you feed your mind is what you make of yourself.Their are many wonderful and happy things to think about, their are many things we can be grateful for, life ,family, friends, good thoughts
Since it flew completely over your head Kiss, the last part of her comment was a generalization, meaning not directed towards the poster of this question.
Makes one wonder if you have anything past a 5th grade reading level.
Regardless of what she meant she has directed her statements to me, which has nothing to do with my education of the subject. I still responded as I feel. Nothing has changed from your input
Speaking for myself, I really don't have much of a problem with sex or human sexuality per se.
What I do have a problem with is people telling me that I have to not only tolerate but approve of (there's a difference) their views on sex and human sexuality or be branded a bigot. I have a huge problem with people who think I have to celebrate, support, or in any way endorse their views to be "loving" and that by simply disagreeing with them I'm "hateful" and "intolerant".
Newsflash: the word "tolerant" implies disagreement. And the fact that people use "love", "hate", and "bigot" so incredibly out-of-context goes to show that not enough Americans own dictionaries.
I can respect people saying they don't want me to force my beliefs down their throats. That's why I don't. I say what I believe, but I don't force others to believe the same way. I've been visited (mobbed) by Jehovah's Witnesses before; I know that it's like. It's not cool.
But in the same way, I feel that I deserve to not have other peoples' views on sexuality ram-rodded down MY throat. That's what get's me "on the defensive" when the issue of sexuality comes up--knowing that few if any people are going to respect my beliefs (but will slap the "bigot-label" on me the instant I don't wholly agree to theirs). That kind of hypocrisy drives me nuts.
Respect is a two way street. So is real tolerance.
Interesting question!
I think sex is human yes and they are not human and trying to be more noble
Who is "they"? Who is "not human"? What do you mean, "trying to be more noble"?
In recent years it seems like the secular left is most threatened by normal sexuality.

At the risk of being bashed and stepped on here in the forums. However, many straight people seem almost obsessed with this. They make it an issue and I don;t...

Is sex more powerful than GOD?From my life learning's, it looks like sex wins. I have seen devoted Christians cheat, multiple partners. I thought this was all forbidden according to GOD so to me sex is more powerful.
