Do people who attend church/worship strive to become better individuals?

Your spiritual growth happens in your own time. Not everyone matures spiritually however you should become a better person over time. Your behavior, actions, and mentality surely can not be the same as it was ten years ago. I just don't understand how people can sit in a pew and not be touch spiritually and inspired to become a better person-whatever your religion might be. Do some people sit in church, time after time, and never take "the message" to heart to guide their life? Even an atheist can admitt if people followed the ten commandments the world would be a better place.

That is so true. It makes me wonder if they realize there is no "credit" for showing up versus being involved and taking spiritual principles and practice.
