      I agree sex should be private also, but it isn't in most other places though. Tell you one thing though, you whisper something sexual then whisper about God, you'll get more attention from the first, no matter where you are.

      You don't have to believe or to worship to talk about God...just that some get angry, or embarrassed, or busy, when God is brought up...

      Maybe many people avoid talking about "God" because it is a nebulous subject. There are millions of "gods" in human history and still other concepts that are hard to imagine. People just want to live their lives and be happy with those they love.

   Public speaking is a reflection of one's inner self, no matter what is being discussed. If one speaks openly about sex or politics, as you said, it means these topics fascinates and discussing there various aspects cause a kind of personal satisfaction.
   If one Loves God and obeys Him and follows His injunctions then open proclamation defines his/her attitude.
   The fact is that speaking about a topic which is generally percieved as a dry one, needs to delve with loads of wisdom, courage and a selfless attitude, since no one is going to pay even a single penny for the act, so its the intense Love of God that become a driving force behind such initiative. When a person follows the God's instruction in all his affairs and in all walks of life then you can witness a kind of madness about proclamation of God and His words.

   I don't think people avoid it, and I see a lot of believers talking about it... but if people don't believe in God, what's the point of speaking about something they don't believe in? For an atheist debating the existence of God is like debating the existence of Father Christmas, Faeries and Elf's...

      Many atheists are arguing against religion and the ways that many believers evangelize, not the concept of god itself. Since "god" cannot be proven or disproven, it's silly to make authoritative statements either way.

   I guess that depends on the place. There's more talk about God on this website than politics and sex combined.
   
   I very rarely talk about God in my real life because I don't believe in him and most of the people I know are either atheist/agnostic, or are totally respectable about their faith and I don't see any reason to challenge them on it. I have no interest in changing anyone's mind about God. The only reason I'll speak up about religion is if it's a situation that I feel the person is being highly offensive, or if they invite a discussion about it. That pretty much never happens in my 'real life'. I also don't want to offend the people I know/care about by expressing my thoughts on God when I don't feel it's necessary.

   I suppose it depends on your company. I have family members who won't stop talking about politics and friends who would never bring it up. No one I know really wants to talk openly about sex, but neither do they really want to talk about god.
   
   But I think the reasoning behind it is because there are certain subjects that just make the entire room awkward and uncomfortable. And, if you're trying to have a good time, you will probably avoid them. God is one of those subjects because it's not something you can come to a consensus on. A believer will continue to believe in god and a non-believer will continue to not believe. Arguing about it just makes everyone unhappy.

   In America, the media has manipulated public opinion. The Corporate Party doesn't want critical thinking, but wants to do the thinking for us.
   
   They tell us that American war = "peacekeeping actions." (Orwellian Newspeak)
   
   They tell us that sex is good any way you can get it.
   
   They tell us that religion, spirituality and conspiracies are all nutty subjects not grounded in logic and reason.
   
   They're afraid we will not obey their fear-mongering. Someone who fears nothing but God will not obey the Rockefellers and their bosses in Europe. They own the mainstream media, the military-industrial complex, Hollywood, Madison Avenue, Wall Street and Washington, yet they're still afraid that people will wake up. So, they support people who poo-poo the idea of God and ridicule it. They make it seem obvious that anyone who talks about spirituality, God and Truth are missing gray cells. They don't want you to know about the scientists who believe in God. So, screenplays get rewritten. Skeptics are hired into television. Culture is slowly molded in the direction that helps them take over the world. God is not compatible with their New World Order.
   
   I talk in public about God all the time. I did in American and I continue to do so here in the Philippines, where religion is more openly discussed. In fact, some store chains have prayers over the PA system at 3 PM every day. Prayer is always held before every event in school. So, America and Western Europe seem to be the hardest hit with this media campaign to rub out God.
   
   I suspect that Fundamentalists in America have been led astray so that they might more easily become ridiculed. Division (Ego) is the trademark of the psychopathic elite.
