   Both.  While it's true money can't buy happiness (happiness is a choice not an attainment), it can indeed provide the basic necessities that do make happiness easier and more attainable.  For example, it's much easier to have inner peace when you aren't worried your going to lose your home or wondering where you next meal is coming from.  Buying "stuff" may provide a temporary high or satisfaction, but it's not the same as an enduring inner peace.  You don't have to be monetarily wealthy to have inner peace and happiness, but it certainly helps to not be destitute and struggling just to survive either.

   money cannot buy happiness it can help enhance what is truly making you happy,like if your husband makes you happy, money to go out to dinner helps.

   Anyone who declares that money does not buy happiness is not living in reality.  Money does buy happiness.  Having socioeconomic wealth translates into a better quality of life.  One consumes better food, have better medical/health care, can provide a higher quality of education for his/her children, live in a safer, more secure and protective neighborhood, and can insure an economic legacy for future generations. 
   
   Having socioeconomic wealth further means having more life choices/options and the ability to have them materialize.  It can even help one extend his/her life through premium medical care and having the means to afford supplemental nutrition to aid such.  It means provide care for elderly loved ones with the assistance of quality medical staff in a home environment instead of in a nursing home. 
   
   Having socioeconomic wealth means better career options.  When one has socioeconomic wealth, h/she can leave a toxic work environment freely.  H/she, if unemployed, have the liberty to be choosy as to what subsequent job/career h/she will decide to take/pursue. In essence, h/she does not have to settle for any old job that is available. One can aptly state quite succinctly that money buys happine$$ and lot$ of it!

   Money can buy things that will make you happy, but it won't buy you friends (unless you bribe them) or family. Yes, money does bring happiness, but its only temporary. When the money runs out, the happiness you get from money leaves with it, but friends and family last a lifetime.

    The simplest answer is that it depends on who you ask! Happiness is an individual experience. This means that it is possible for someone to change or even find multiple things that make them happy.
