I appreciate your explanation regarding the issue unlike some atheist here in HP who only knows arrogance but unable to show their real stand and color. Do you have a personal experience with God before becoming an agnostic atheist?
You're welcome. No, I didn't have a personal experience with God. I was agnostic prior to agnostic atheist. No religion convinced me that that God/s existed is all. I like to learn about ten all the same, I just don't believe in God/s.
+1 I get so tired of hearing how we must be "ignorant"... I was raised in a religious household and came to my own conclusions based on logic and reasoning.
I could deal with someone saying it about me since I've never read the bible and don't particularly plan to. Though usually people only say that to me after I point out the logic they use for some bible verse makes absolutely no sense...
Oh Link, you need to read the bible! Read the New Testament first. It will change your life!
Why would I read the NT before I read the OT? Less chaos in it to judge from?
No Link. I want you to read about Jesus first. Plus, the NT is easier to get through.
Link, make sure when you read the NT that you already believe every word BEFORE you start reading...lest you will surely remain an atheist.
No Link, let the Holy Spirit in!
Got it Get. I'll also make sure to pick and choose parts that are convenient for me to believe in and ignore the rest/blame it on Satan.
Jumping wolf spiders and flying roaches = Satan's fault.
No Link, read it first!!! Then decide. But don't go against something of which you have no knowledge. Don't knock it unless you try it!
If people such as yourself who've studied the bible in and out (supposedly..) Cannot convince someone like me who's only read the front page, even before I even started thinking of identifying as an agnostic atheist, I wouldn't hold your breath star.
Star, have you read every other religious text?
And if the Holy Spirit tells you to believe the bible...you better believe the bible, even if it still makes no sense...OR ELSE! Holy Spirit is awesome...
You say, their faith and unbelief came not from knowledge?
Yes...I'm saying that no one has any knowledge of any gods - or whether or not any gods exist. Ancient texts cannot be considered as knowledge of any gods, because they are only claims...and BAD claims at that.
Are you saying that all writings whether ancient or not are fiction and not true? Are you saying that all people worship and deny God because of ancient writings that influence them?
excellent point! How can one know for sure their God is the right one without exploring other religious texts?
What's the main reason for leaving Christianity and embracing Atheism?
I grew up and experienced a lot and just found my beliefs changing. It wasn't a decision to "leave" Christianity, it was just a natural transition.
Is there any force involve in a natural transition?
