   I think they are giant wastes of money. The buildings they build are pointless. They build extravagant multimillion dollar buildings that leave me wondering how many more people could they have helped if they would have just built a basic steel construction building. It also leads me to wonder how much the preacher is getting paid. I don't attend any type of church as an adult, but as a teen I went to many mega churches and they seemed very cult like. Almost like they would worship their preacher. I guess the only possible good I can think of is many of the ones around here typically accept anyone who comes in the door as long as they believe.

   Mega churches are opened for the sake of making a profit.  These charlatans know that there are weak minded, emotionally immature people who have been indoctrinated to become their willing victims. They simply use this indoctrination to make fools of these already psychologically damaged people, offering them false hope, and delivering NOTHING.
   Oh...and the government is complicit in this as well...as they provide a tax exemption to religion.
   This should be a crime on the same level as Bernie Madoff.

      Really? I figured you would be too clever to be taken by these snake oil salesmen. Motivational stimulation is fine, but when it is peppered with childish superstitions and imaginary characters being the ultimate goal, then it loses it essence.

   I visited one a few times, but I don't like crowds in general. All that energy can be overwhelming. The last time I went, the preacher was leading the huge congregation, along with them people watching at home in prayer and he said said something that disturbed me. "And, God," he said as everyone repeated, "please teach me to forgive today." I about crapped my pants. Here's why: after we left, we went to a restaurant and the waitress was being nice to everybody in the place but my wife. I tried to keep her calm, but she kept getting angrier and angrier. As we left, she told the waitress off very loudly and decided to forgive her once we got in the car. Then I reminded her that she asked for it in prayer.
   
   There's no telling what other unpleasantness the thousands of people praying along experienced. I sent a nice little email to the pastor about it, but never heard back. Go figure.
