How did you come to your personal religious beliefs? Was it through family, school, or personal?
I was dragged by my classmate to join catechism class when I was 5 years old
I have heard of folks being dragged whether they wanted to or not....I was more of a holiday and life occasion church person...went on Holidays and live events set in the church...wedding, etc..
I was raised Catholic and fervently believed...until I began looking around at how innocent people suffer in this world. The more I traveled the more convinced I became that If there is a god,he must be at best incompetent or at worst down right evil; Then I Really read the old testament with open eyes...then I walked away from religion and haven't looked back since.I do not miss the fear and guilt hammered into my brain as a child...not one bit.
Minus the Catholic part..Your journey seems very similar to my Father's on this very personal journey for everyone..
I would call my beliefs religious, per se, but I am fairly spiritual. I wasn't raised in a religious household, so any of my faith comes from m own research and experimentation.
I was raised to question, discover and enjoy learning, including about religion. So we were raised without a particular religion, but exposed to a number by our friends, family and the world.
We were also raised to respect the beliefs of others - so if our beliefs were different, we weren't to make fun or tell them that they were wrong. But, it was ok to question respectfully. And also ok to state our belief as long as we weren't trying to push them into ours.
I am an Agnostic-Atheist - which is helpful given that I enjoy learning about different religions. So, I guess it was through family, and personal.
Yes, I came from a family that believed in teaching Critical thinking as well...You might not agree all the time, but at least you would be able to make a concrete argument for your side.

Did you choose your religious / non-religious belief? Most people are born into a religion, have you ever thought about changing?I ask, not to be antagonistic, but to understand if your belief is of blind faith or by choice.

Why Do Religious People Get So Angry At Atheists? When it comes to Atheism, most religious people get angry and even combative when it comes to this subject. I wonder why, especially in this day and age, one would feel anger towards another human being with a different perception/outlook/belief....

Why do you push your religious beliefs on other people?I believe in God, but I do not push my beliefs on other people. I would rather get to know the person who does not believe in God and show them the ways in which he works in my life rather then shove him down their throats. I would rather get...
