Why do all of the 1,000s of religions in the world think that THEIR religion is the only real one?
Please state YOUR religion and why you think it is the only REAL religion! No copy/pasting, no hate speech, no breaking the TOS of HP. No going off topic.
It's simply an expression of the competitive trait in human nature. "I am better than you, and mine is better than yours" - you fill in the blanks after that and feel free to include just about anything.
Hey, let's see what "their" god is all about, so that we think of a better one and then call him ONLY.
As far as human nature is behind all that, it can be compared to something like national pride, patriotism, or on a smaller scale, an intellectual favoritism, loyalty to our political party, you name it. Don't forget that "liberalism/conservatism is the ONLY just model of social coexistence." Anybody for dogs on your menu? - you don't know what you are missing.
And there is no lack of the power in our conviction. Why would those guys have such a popular god - we are going to come up with one that you can't quit unless you want to sizzle in fire of hell - and we are not even going to wait till afterlife but will behead those quitters, how is that for a stronger faith?
Even within the same denomination there has to be branching and a competition to draw more numerous congregations.
Indeed, from the viewpoint of a non-believer, there is no business like believing business. "Spreading the WORD" is a very cost-avoiding way of advertisement. In tradition of every business, the product simply HAS TO be presented as THE ONLY REAL ONE - "beware of imitations".
There is NO SUCH THING as one real religion. Individual religionists proclaim that their religion is the only true religion out of pure ego. Each religion has its own authoritative books & beliefs. Religions are a man-made construct & concept.
Each person ethically, morally, & spiritually where h/she is supposed to be. There are no one correct or incorrect ethical/moral/ religious/spiritual path to God, Universal Being, Higher Consciousness, or one's Higher Self. I am a New Ager who sees God as an entity beyond all human limitations & judgments. No religion nor ethical path is the so-called true path. People are where they are supposed to BE on their individual path, be it religionist, non-traditional, atheist, &/or agnostic. As Paul McCartney stated, "Let it Be."
"Individual religionists proclaim that their religion is the only true religion out of pure ego." Well said
I suppose I identify as a pagan/animist, but I don't believe that my way is the only right way. My beliefs are structured to my own personal path and my understanding and perspective on the world around me and myself.
Of course my experience of the world, faith, and religion are going to be different from someone else's. So everyone has their own path, and none of them are wrong.
It's just wrong to impose one onto other people.
CERTAINLY is wrong to force religion on people. Each person has their own unique path.
Unfortunately the people who would benefit from thinking about this question, won't come across this page!
Because it has everything to do with tribalism, and nothing to do with spirituality. Religious ideas grafted onto basic human psychology, that is all.
Humans have a tough time realising or acknowledging they're completely, completely wrong in what they think, or that all humans have the same spiritual mechanism in place.

On Facebook I know of at least two profiles where the people running them have offended some Pagans by comments they have made from a Christian viewpoint and links they have posted. I have seen this sort of problem before. So my question is: can Christians and Pagans be friends or do the belief...
