There is a means by which to bring the mind under one's control. This means is the same for much of the rest of the body, and that is to deny it of its usual content.
The mind is ever processing the images of perception. To deny it those images will slowly bring it to perceive only that which we desire. And, to concentrate and then meditate upon a single thing will allow one to bring that thing into mind at will.
In meditation, one must learn to remove all images. This is done by denying the mind any other images. This is just a rough explaination for sure. Even so, the ideal is real.
