This is a very tough question! I was involved in a church about 10 years ago that taught of a pre-designed plan of God. Basically predestination. I wander often how much of our lives are predestined and how much of our own destiny we create. The concept of the pre-designed plan of God was that the closer you walked with God and the more of His law that you lived in, then the more fulfillment you would achieve in His pre-designed plan for your life. There are certain things I believe this to be true, but I also believe predestination is kind of one of those all or nothing concepts.
As a result of my reasoning from what I have just wrote I would have to conclude that life is a journey and one of magnificent proportions. In life itself, you do not need to be a practicing anything, to have a completely God inspired moment of clarity and inspiration. Moments of great triumph that could have only come from our Creator Himself. Conversely finding awe and majesty in finding out how much of our own existence that we are responsible for ourselves. Taking the predestination idea off the table.
I do believe God has a Divine plan for us, but we have to seek out His wisdom and His will to let Him show us how to Create our own destiny!
I guess then, I believe it is both! Life is a journey and a destiny.
Great question Ken, thanks for making me think.
