Can anybody, a Christian, tell me what do they mean by "god?" I am a Hindu.

I believe, there is one God and religions are the ways that people choose to seek them. But in many christian books I found, "Gods praised by other religions are false gods, and Jesus is the only path to heaven, so does that mean, almost 2/3 of the world's population who are non christian are sure to go to hell?

Well I suppose that is our belief, yes. The Jew is God's chosen and have an earthy promise to inhabit earth forever. The Christians are from Christ (Jesus), The Son of God, born of a virgin and He without sin gave his blood for our sins because we can none be good enough and there has always been a blood sacrifice and to be a part of the body of Christ in heaven we simply accept Him as our Savior. By His blood we are saved, by His stripes we are healed. There will be an outpouring of witnesses for Christians, 144,000 I believe the number is that God will send out in these final days from the tribes of Israel to spread the word so all have the word and choice to accept or reject.

It is true that due to the influence of Hinduism and Islam (Muslims),most of the world's population is not Christian,a fact that grieves God and makes Him more determined to only allow those who honor His Son,Jesus, into heaven to live with Him and His Son for all of eternity.

The old argument  that many don't know who Jesus is and therefore can not be responsible for accepting Him will soon become null and void when He returns in the Rapture because the whole world will see him then:

1 Thessalonians 4:16 (New King James Version)

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

You do know what you let yourself in for asking a question like that, don't you? Surely you do. Ask yourself this question: Even if the "Christian" view of "god" or "God" is correct, would you want to follow a "God" who would consign two-thirds of the world's population, presumably created by "Him," to hell simply for not believing in "him?"

Would any principled person really want to sign on for that? Your question and some of the responses here remind me of an old Twilight Zone episode about two astronauts who land on a planet. One of them discovers a tiny, sentient "humanoid civilization" -- people microscopic in size and all that.

One of the astronauts, who has always had self-esteem issues sets himself up as their "god" and the only thing he offers them in return for their fearful, frantic worship is well, maybe he would trample their towns and cities....

So, again: You do know what you let yourself in for when asking such a question, don't you?

If you want to go to" heaven", the one from the bible...you need to" know" the God who created it.

I am a Christian and what I am taught is that as long as people live a good, moral life, they will be saved too

And honestly, to those who want to bash religions or non-believers, I think you are wasting your time. If this is how people want to live their life, let them be. In the end, the only way we will know the "truth" regarding if God is real, if said God of said religion is like this is when we die. Also, remember that all these religions are being taught by humans who are not perfect, make mistakes, and have their own biases

In Christianity, as in Judaism and Islam, God is the one Creator of the Universe. This one God is recognized by some Hindus and Brahma.

I had a deep theological conversation with my father-in-law, who is a Christian theologian. He said that if we study the Bible and the early Christian church closely, we will see that anyone who believes that people and the world can be redeemed (made healthy and whole) can be saved.

Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and none shall reach the Father but by me." Many people take this to mean that one has to believe in Jesus. But he never said that. He taught us to pray "Our Father." So God the Creator is the Father of all, Jew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, believer in any faith and non-believer alike.

One Christian view is that anyone who shares love in this world becomes loving as Jesus was loving. We meet him on the Way to God.

Love you now, and see you there!

    Matthew 7:13 - 7:14
13- enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and MANY will enter through it.

14- But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a FEW find it.
