You could measure your day in decimal time as centidays, or 1/100th of a day (14.4 minutes). Chinese measured time this way for many centuries. Their unit for the centiday is called "ke"
Because that's a convenient measure to fit in with the workings of the solar system and the universe. Why is grass green?
