Astrology - The word Astrology is composed of two greek words that mean 'star' and 'speak'. In other words: Astrology let's the stars speak.
Astrology should not be confused with Astronomy, the scientific observation of the stars and the universe. Astronomy deals with hard facts, Astrology is about predicting personal characteristics and the prediction of the future through the interpretation of the constellation of planets in respect to one's bith date.
The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need - With a CD-Rom
Although this is not the only astrology book that your library will ever need, it is still a valuable title that should be strongly considered. Woolfolk, the horoscope columnist for Marie Claire and Redbook magazines, has updated her classic guide for the first time in 19 years. Thoroughly covered here are sun signs, moon signs, planets, and the significance of the 12 zodiacal houses, as well as the most recent discoveries in astronomy and 21st-century projections. The author gives an easy, logical way to integrate the interpretations of the sun signs, moon signs, planets, and houses in any given chart, something not easily done or often seen in general astrology books. The book's only shortcoming is its lack of instruction on making a detailed technical chart, which is necessary if one is to cast a complete and accurate horoscope. However, Woolfolk compensates for this by teaching a simplified method that is about 90 percent accurate enough to get a beginner started and includes a bibliography for further instruction. Astronomical tables are included to help cast the simplified chart. A great bargain for the price, this is highly recommended for all astrology collections. Marija Sanderling, Nesmith Lib., Windham, NH
If you are just beginning to study astrology and are looking for a book with ALL the basics, this is a great start. I always recommend this book to starters. I am deep into astrology and when my friends ask me how to begin, I tell them this book without hesitation. I have a library of books on the subject and I love many of them - although, if I were to pick one book to help one begin learning astrology, this is the one. However, when one becomes advanced with astrology this book leaves many questions unanswered. For example, it does not go in depth about retrogrades, nodes, or the part of fortune. Someone else mentioned Schulman and I 100% agree that he goes in depth with books on EACH of these subjects for the advanced astrologer. -- Stacie L. Henehan (New Albany, IN USA)

I have not ever found a better astrology book for those people who simply want to understand their own chart. They don't want to wade knee deep through understanding the possible planet/sign/house/aspect combinations for the rest of the world. (or they don't want to dedicate the number of years it takes to become adept). This book can take them from zero understanding to a respect and deepened understanding of their own chart. It is also one of the best beginner books I have ever seen for those people who do want to begin a more dedicated study of astrology. Organized, well put together and in a logical and manageable order. I teach an intro to astrology course and am constantly asked which book I'd recommend for the students to delve into their own charts. This is the only one I've found out of a rather extensive personal library. Grab your copies while you're still able to find them or hope for a reprint on this amazing book. Intermediate students can also use it to further their depth of study. -- Jillianne Simpson (New York)
