Funny Atheist Billboards

Updated on January 4, 2013

A Collection of Funny Atheist Billboards

Recently, the Atheist Bus campaign in NZ finally got the legal go ahead to put up signs in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. This inspired me to search the internet to find all the other awesome, clever, amusing, tired, overly obvious and pun-filled atheist billboards.

And as a favour to all you impressionables out there, I have gathered them in one place, to safely hide away and avoid! Don't look at the nasty corrupt pictures. Don't hover over them to read what I said. Don't follow any of the links, read about the Atheist Bus campaign, learn about the Invisible Pink Unicorn or add you own contributions. Because the Invisible White Guy says so.

But what if I want to worship all gods instead? Does that make me super-religious? Do they cancel out? Does it make people who only worship one god more or less religious?

Absolutely! Avoid those nasty sweatshop labels - Adidas, we're looking at you. Uniforms! UNIFORMS FOR ALL CHILDREN!

Have you seen any of these signs around?

We're just talking humans here right? Because if we're going to include naked mole rats and herring, this billboard is going to need to be a lot bigger to fit in the number.

HI there Flynn. I just wanted to say that I feel happy that people are actually running campaigns like this. It's empowering to know there are atheists out there that want to help humanity get out of the hole of ignorance we live in.

It's just a matter of time before atheism stops being a stigma! :D

Not insecure, just fighting for what we stand for.

Hey, good lens. Yeah, I have an idea for a billboard. I'd like to see a cartoon that shows us ripping the concepts of Passion, Worship, Exultation, Goodness and Morality out of the talons of god-based religions and restoring them to the hands of Man (gender neutral).

I do think that Atheist make one mistake: equating a belief in a god with a religion. I'm an atheist but I don't make that mistake. I consider a religion to be a meeting place for people with similar ideas and values where the symbols of these things are shared with each other. It doesn't have to be god-based. And it doesn't have to be based upon blind-faith of any kind. The argument of religious people is that "scientists" behave very much like religious people but with a different kind of faith at the bottom of their worldviews. Can Reason be a basis for faith? I suppose it could be in the sense that we have faith in our ability to understand existence.

Sorry, didn't mean to babble so much. I just have so much to say.

These are so funny! I wish they had them in the south but I don't think they read until they actually walk into the church so it would be futile to have them outside. Certainly getting a Flyby Winging from this SquidAngel and it can be found with the other blessed lenses for today at Have Wings Will Bless! Do you think I'll be struck down for that? rofl

They may call me an aimless wanderer, but not all who wander are aimless and I'm glad my wings directed me to wander over to this bit of awesomeness! ~Ren

@anonymous: It's not up to us to prove the bible is wrong, it's up to YOU to prove it's RIGHT. Difference is, science LIKES to be proved wrong. It LIKES to learn things, and expand on its knowledge. Believing something to be true doesn't make it so. There's ZERO empirical evidence to show ANYTHING in the bible is true.

I grew up reading the bible. I thought it was an entertaining collection of myths - I was about ten before I found out that there were still primitive cultures of people who took it seriously.

    • profile image

All you atheist say it's a myth then prove the Bible is wrong. Put your brain where your mouth is and PROVE THE BIBLE isn't truth and documentation. Those true atheist that set out to disprove the Bible have become some of the strongest Christians! I challenge you!!! I have faith that you cannot read God's word nor study it and still be an atheist!!!

Very funny lens. I laughed out loud. Susan Anthony's comment is so true. It is even truer when we consider the people who know what God wants OTHER people to do. And again, it always seems to coincide with that THEY want to see happen. One would think they communicated with God regularly by cell phone.

The US has VERY twisted ideas about religion.

A Buddhist priest once said, "The major religions of the world share one idea: That people be good to each other".

I love this lens. Although I am not an atheist, I do appreciate the sentiment behind these billboards. (No, I'm not Christian either). We live 30 miles from the home church of the Phelps family, the radical fundamentalists that are protesting military funerals. I'd love to put a billboard across the street from their house.

And I love LOL cats. Thumbs up!

This is FABULOUS. I live in the bible belt. I have seen many offensive religious signs up, one was about gay's burning in He%%. It made me irate. It's about time that Atheist's got their chance to campaign back. I believe in a higher being or spirit, but I do not believe as most. That doesn't make me a bad person. Bravo! Bravo!

I cannot wait to email this to some people at work. I'm gonna put it on facebook and twitter too.

My ancestors came to America in the 1700s in search of religious freedom. I really resent all the people trying to mold the U.S. government into a christian government. The cast anyone, who doesn't parrot their dogma, as a "bad person." I'm not a bad person, I just don't believe the same things you do.
