Interesting numbers in the Bible
Numbers that mean a lot
In the Bible we find many numbers, years and other ways to count. Very often, the numbers mean so much more than just a figure. With a little extra knowledge, a lot of interest and time, we can find interesting answers to our questions.
Sometimes the numbers are to be understood literary, but sometimes there is much more information hidden behind them!
The number three
Often used to emphasis something. When there is intensity and importance behind the words.
(Revelation 4:8) . . .Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is coming."(Revelation 8:13) . . ."Woe, woe, woe to those dwelling on the earth." . .(Revelation 16:13) . . And, I saw three unclean inspired expressions [that looked] like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon. . .
I think about the number three as if it is underlined with red!
Of course here raises a lot of other questions, but for now, we just look at the numbers
More questions about the Bible
Who led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron?
Who was Jeremiah's secretary?
What was Peter's father's name?
The number four
Signifies often total or foursquareness in symmetry.
(Revelation 7:1) . . .After this I saw four angels standing upon the four corners of the earth, holding tight the four winds. . .The earth is round but the number four is used here, we understand that it is the whole earth.
You can say that the number four signifies the total of what is written. Organizational the best.
The number six
Signifies imperfection, something not normal, monstrous
We find the number six when there are describtions of people against God. Humans or angels that do not do Gods will. They are in oposition to Him.
And war arose once again with the Phi·lis′tines - enemies of God.
(2 Samuel 21:20) . . . And, war arose yet again at Gath, when there happened to be a man of extraordinary size, with six fingers on each of his hands and six toes on each of his feet, twenty-four in number; and he also had been born to the Reph′aim.
Then we have the really well known scripture (Revelation 13:18) . . . Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man's number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six. Since the number six is mentioned three times here - it is really imperfect and really against God. Who is that? Satan the Devil. He is against God and solidly confirmed by the three times repeated number 6! He will never reach number seven even if he thinks he can. He is an evil master, a destroyer and tyrant times three. Seven stands for perfection from God our Creator and his ruling is the perfect one for mankind. Not Satans.
The Holy book
The number 10
Signifies allness or completeness in a physical way, as to things on earth.
Just as number 7 is completeness in heavenly matters, The number 10 is when it comes to earth and humans.
(Revelation 17:12) 12 “And the ten horns that you saw mean ten kings, who have not yet received a kingdom. So in this case the number ten stands for ALL the rulers of earth. They are called kings but some of them are presidents, dictators and tsars.
(Zechariah 8:23) . . .in those days that ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold, yes, they will actually take hold of the skirt of a man who is a Jew, saying: “We will go with YOU people, for we have heard [that] God is with YOU people.”’”
Ten men taking hold shows that these men come from all nations. True worshippers are not a local fenomenon. Ten means from all the earth!
The number twelve
Signifies a divinely constituted organization either in the heavens or on the earth
We find the number 12 many times in the Bible. To just mention a few: 12 Tribes of Israel, 12 of Jesus´ desciples, 12 doors on the heavenly Jerusalem. (Revelation 21:12) . . .and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names were inscribed which are those of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. . .
This makes sence. 4 is perfect organisation. 3 is emphasis = 3 x 4 = 12 and 12 x 12 = 144, witch times 10 times 10 times 10 is 144 000. That is the number of rulers in Gods Kingdom:
(Revelation 14:1) . . .And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. . .
(Revelation 5:10) . . .and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”
I know you will have lots of thoughts and questions after reading this! I know I did the first times. So please write me! I will do my best to answer them.
