Chinese Bone Weight Astrology of Yuan Tian Gang
The Bone Weight Astrology is invented by Yuan Tian Gang, a very famous astrologer of the Tang Dynasty.
It is one of the most simplified and popular Chinese astrology systems used to predict a person’s life fortune. This system can be found in the Chinese Almanac or Tong Sheng, under the “Weighing Bone Song”.
As the method is so easy to learn and does not require professional guidance, it is a “Do-It-Yourself Fortune-Telling”.
The calculation is very simple. A weight is assigned to the lunar year, month, day and hour of your birth. As such data is the Bazi of a person, this system is also known as the “Weight of Bazi”.
The final Bazi weight is derived by totalling the different weights assigned to the lunar year, month, day and hour of your birth. The weight is measured in “liang” (tael) and “qian” (mace).
Under this system, the heavier the weight, the better one’s life will be. The maximum weight of 7.1 is supposed to be that of an emperor.
In the olden days, the Chinese traditionally have their baby’s bone weight calculated at birth so as to have an indication of the child’s fortune throughout his or her lifetime. The bone weight is also referred to as “the astrological weight at birth”.
Free online calculator
You just need to enter your date and time of birth for the online bone weight calculator to do the calculations. The calculator will only show the combined weight, solar birth date, lunar birth date*, and the readings.
For those who want to have a breakdown of the total weight, please refer to the charts provided here and calculate manually.
(Note: *The literal translation of the lunar birth date by the online calculator can be quite misleading to those who are not familiar with Chinese dates. For example, if the lunar date is indicated as “28 September”, it actually means “the 28th lunar day of the 9th lunar month”.)
The “Life Verdict” contains the interpretations for all the fifty-one different weights.
For instance, your combined weight is 5.4. Just check the prediction for “5.4” under the “Bones Weighing: Reading”.
For those who can read Chinese, you can refer to the original version of the “Yuan Tian Gang’s Weighing Bone Song”.
Hi-tech ancient astrology
There is a Bone Weight Astrology 1.0 app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
With a well-designed interface, it is easy to use. Just enter the birth date, and it will select the Chinese Zodiac of the user. The user’s character and traits, according to the system, is more or less like his or her zodiac animal.
Next comes the calculation of the weights for the year, month, day and hour of birth. These are then added together to arrive at the combined weight.
The forecast will include information about wealth, love, career, health and interpersonal relationship, which are the five major fortunes of a person.
Accuracy of the system
Lives are broadly categorized into fifty-one groups under the Bone Weight Astrology system. As it is a very simplified method of fortune-telling, its prediction should not be taken too seriously. However, by comparing readings with each other, you can have some fun with friends in your leisure.
