Our Annual Church Picnic

Updated on March 1, 2018

Fun Church Picnic

Pendleton United Methodist Church Picnic

Pendleton United Methodist Church enjoys our Annual Church Picnic held every summer! I first created this page after one of our picnics several years ago. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, the attendance was great and the fellowship time was wonderful. Children were seen playing in Barrett's Place Playground and on a vacant field. Adults visited and prepared the food and the tables. Some were walking Trotter's Trail to get a little exercise. One by one families arrived with their covered dishes and chairs.

Have you been on a picnic lately?

It doesn't matter what age you are, there is always something to enjoy at the Annual Church Picnic. Everyone had a great time and a lot of fun memories are made!

Pendleton SC has many wonderful churches. I grew up in the Presbyterian Church but moved to the Methodist when my husband and I got married.

Fun In Barrett's Place Playground

and Trotter's Trail at Veterans Park in Pendleton SC

This was the perfect location for a picnic. The children enjoyed Barrett's Place Playground and had a great time. The playground was built in 5 days by over 1800 volunteers in October 2005. Pendleton is proud of this playground and a group was formed that wants to make Veterans Park the best it can be. Friends of the Park has two workdays per year to keep up with the needed maintenance of the playground, the shelters and Trotter's Trail

Fellowship at the Church Family Picnic

Once great thing about the Annual Church Picnic is that everyone is relaxed and it is a great time just to enjoy each other. There were many conversations going on at the same time. There were "people watchers" and "busy bees". Church Picnics are a great time to get to know your membership better. You just never know what you might have in common with someone else.

Fun Time Was Had By All! - We all enjoyed this Church Family Picnic and will look forward to the next one.

Oh how I miss our annual church picnics. We not only had a carry in but also had the church service there in the park too.A couple of years we met for a bbq and then went to the water park. We've not even done that for years now.I just told my husband to bring it up at council this week.

PIcnics - Church and more - are such a fun (and delicious) way to spend an afternoon. Your church picnic shared here is perfect for August - National Picnic Month.

I wish more churches would realize the fellowship they are missing when they don't have a yearly picnic. Besides, it's a good icebreaker for new members. I've never been to a church picnic that I didn't enjoy, and I've been to a lot of them. Thanks for sharing the fun.

Your picnic looks awesome, and I love your lens! (And I just might have to buy that hot and cold food carrier!) We don't do a church picnic, but we belong to a club at our cabin, and we always go to the annual Fourth of July picnic there. Much the same - good food, good fun.

My parents were members of a number of groups including the Legion and they held some amazing summer picnics. Now it's the grandkids and I heading off to the local park with a bag of birdseed for the birds, and a take-out picnic basket for us.

Looks like everyone had a great time. There's a lot of old-fashioned goodwill generated by a day outdoors with pleasant companions.

You should have grown up in my Presbyterian church in Bellflower, CA. We sang "Down in my Heart" all the time at your young people's after evening church Sunday sings. I wish I had a video of our youth director leading "V is for Victory," and, only when begged several times, "The Lollipop Song." Our sings were considered entertainment for us young people and we enjoyed them. It's hard to reconcile myself to the fact that our memories of the 1950s and 1960s are now considered history. Maybe I should write a lens on the church I grew up in, but it would take videos that are impossible to get now to really make it live. In those days, we didn't take cameras to events -- let alone movie cameras.I think I have one picture from a newspaper of one youth group activity that was in my scrapbook for about 50 years now.

[in reply to sittonbull] That's funny that you should mention that, John because I sure kept thinking about those picnics at the Danenhowers while I was putting this together. Weren't they fun and we would swim in the Pond.
