Done My Duty
Jesus' covenant is all I need
Keep it in Christ’s perspective
“Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” Luke 17:7-10
The other day I was talking with someone back home about my writing and how there are many positive reviews of them. It was a vain attempt at seeking encouragement and approval from them. Instead they asked how money I was making. When informed there was none, they pooh pawed it and said in a condescending tone” Then why are you doing it, it is such a waste of time.”
I felt very depressed, although I don’t know why, those people never have encouraged me.
The next morning during morning talk time with God, I laid out my hurt to Him. There was a strong sense to open the Bible. I just opened it up and read the passage before me. It was Luke 17:7-19. Those words jumped out at me. It was God saying :”Do not seek vain approval of men or women. Be content to know you are doing what I have given you to do.”
I know writing is Gods chosen path for me and am happy to receive it and do it.
I just needed a reminder to seek Gods will not mans approval.
Are you following the path Christ has laid out for you? Do family and friends cruelly mock and ridicule you for it?
Please keep today’s verses with you as a reminder that it doesn’t matter what others think of you, it matters that you follow the path Christ has given you to follow.
When others mock you or criticize you, take it to Jesus. His love and encouragement will give you strength to pick up your cross and carry on.
It did me.
Prayer: Please Jehovah Adonai (The Lord God our Sovereign) help keep me focused upon You and You alone. Thank you for gently correcting me when I steer off course and seek the praise of others, instead of being content knowing I am fulfilling Your special purpose in my life. I humbly ask in the name of Him whose purpose it was to save the lost, Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
