Fear- Good Byes Are Not So Hard

Updated on April 2, 2012

Good Bye Old Friend FEAR

I never thought I would write another Hub. Then I spent some quality time with a friend from the past who had really served me well. He came in to my life at a time when I was trying to find my way clear of lots of roadblocks and obstacles which allowed me to hide from the world. I remember passing Shametown and stopping at the Beat Yourself Up Hotel. I actually took up a residence there. Can’t say I enjoyed it, but I lost the key someplace and I could not unlock the windows to escape.

My friend and I walked together for almost fifty years. He was with me through abuse, one parent familying, divorce, failure, lost children, fond children, lost jobs, found jobs… I could always count on him to keep me occupied and away from life. Get the idea?

I gave my friend all that I had. All the love in my heart. All the strength in my soul. All the possibilities in my universe. And you know what? He kept me safe! I was able to keep my light under a bushel. I lived in the knowledge that the first love of my life was right in quoting Lincoln, “I’d rather keep my mouth shut and let them think I was stupid, than open it and let them be sure”.

What a life I have lived! As all good things, well maybe this was not a ‘good thing’, must come to an end, I had to say good bye. I wanted to serve him with divorce papers, but I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Been there and done that. So, I simply pray for him. I offer him this gift:

“Heavenly Father, Buddha, Spirit, please do something with FEAR. He needs to find some place where he can go and hide. It has to be some big place, Mother/Father God. You see, he’s all around. Please give him all the room he needs. You have a great big universe. You can do anything, so I know you can do this. You’ve saved me from him and if you can do that…. You can find a home for FEAR. Father, Spirit, could you please make his new home as far away as possible? Past where the Hubble sees? Past where we even think we can go? Keep him safe from ever coming back to haunt us, if you could. Life was great with him, but life is so much greater without him. I realize that I am a little guy. But you said “let the little ones come to me”. Here I am Lord! I know you’ll do this because I know, I believe and I am sure that you want us all to be connected – just not with FEAR. Thanks for letting me experience him, but more thanks to You for waiting for me.”

There you have it. See you later. I have a whole wide world waiting for me. I have dreams to dream and miracles to experience. Here I am Lord.

Wishing you all Abundant Blessings……

where do you live?

Can you see the light?
Can you see the light?

How do you let go of fear?

Abundant, I forgot to answer your question: "How do you let go of fear?"

My first instinct is to run and hide, which I sometimes do. However, once I get over the emotions, I can then stand up and confront that fear, face it full on. That is the only way I can let go of it. If I do not confront the fear, it only grows within me and becomes a stumbling block to my spiritual growth.

I really do like your hub and read it again. Thanks.

It is hard on my eyes to read bold print, but I managed to get through it and enjoy the words/thoughts you so vividly expressed. Well-written and thought provoking hub.

      Voted up and interesting.

Great thought provoking, engaging hub. Easy to read and contemplate. Fear is ruling our society today, and we are the huddled masses, afraid to step out into the light of authenticity that heals. Great job! Beautiful, useful, and interesting. Keep on writing!
