How to pray

Updated on January 24, 2015

Having a quiet word with the creator

Prayer is a helpful way to focus the mind, find peace from a hectic life and to tell the creator about the things that are on your mind without fear of having to worry about the reaction you are going to get. It can help people from all backgrounds to feel better quickly. They say that a trouble shared is a trouble halved and often it's not what others say that make us feel better but just the fact they are listening. Sometimes there is no-one to talk to but what is brilliant is that the creator will always listen to you no matter what time it is or what else is going on in the world.

Reasons People Pray

People from alll walks of life and many religions use prayer as part of the lives. It is a way of connecting with God and finding peace with yourself. Whether you want to have a quick word with God about how your day has gone or seek advice about issues in your life or a decision you need to make or you simply want to say thank you for all your blessings prayer is the best way to do this.

Whatever your reasons are for prayer it is an act that can connect you with God and taking a few minutes out of your day everyday will probably help you feel better.

Just being able to talk to someone who just listens to your problems without putting their two pence worth in and who loves you despite the fact that you are not perfect is a reassuring concept to me.

Whether you choose to take a traditional approach by using the Lords Prayer or simply to freestyle and talk to God from your heart prayer can help you take the weight of the world off your shoulders.

Why try and fix your own problems and analyse why people do things and how you can possibly sort out all the issues that exist in the world when you can simply get on your knees and pray? To me it makes perfect sense and is a lot easier than trying to control all the moving parts and people in the world.

Prayer can help you feel less alone and by opening your heart , listing the things you have got be grateful for and saying thank you for them can instantly improve your mood.

Sometimes appreciating, out loud, everything you are blessed with, be it the eyes to see this or the clothes on your back, can make you realise how blessed you are. When we remember what we have it takes the focus off what we haven't got and we start to feel like life is good.

Only from a good emotional place can you find the strength to change your life and make it better. When you feel hopeless and like you have nothing then it will be harder to find the strength to make changes.

Don't wait until what you have is gone appreciate it now and yes go to God with your problems even if the only thing you want him to help you find is hope.
