Suppose - you create a thread in the 'Religion and Philosophy' forum (like this one) - and no one seems to take it seriously!
What kind of a 'sick' world is this that we live in?
You are not an easy person to take seriously. See you at TED.
Ask an honest question about god/non belief and you will mostly receive honest answers.
Put underlying insults that attack anyone not of the same faith and it shouldnt come as a surprise to you that no one will take you seriously. It also helps to put a little thought behind your posts, because honestly they make little to no sense half the time.
Maybe people who are interested in such matters just don't just don't write on HubPages. Have you looked elsewhere?
If it is a recent trend, perhaps the problem isn't the thread or the specific question, but that there have been so many, many, many religious forums and questions people are just exhausted by the topic. If that is the case, it isn't "sick" it is just a natural response to an overworked subject.
God IS answering your question! " Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like unto him." (Proverbs 26:4) That's why no one answers you.
They should have used some of that during their 'church sessions' (and during all other such sort of sessions, frankly).
bethperry:
But, if there are many religious forums doesn't that mean there are many people who like to keyboard about it?
I have found here on HP, that mostly people who want to debate will come on board. But theists generally do not come on board merely to talk about religion in general or their own religion. Sometimes a couple of theists wish to fight the atheists and then a hearty debate ensues. Rarely do theists chat merrily on and on with other theists.
I have no idea about other forums, since I never venture out of the safety of HubPages forums.
Yours is a very valid point. When I read the question's part about them not being taken seriously, I assumed it meant no one was joining their discussion. I'm sorry if I was mistaken.
bethperry:
No, the question was misleading. He said not to take the thread seriously as "it has been beta thread." I do not know what beta refers to.
GS: The stimulus in most forums is generally to debate. Theists are generally peaceful people who have better things to do than argue, fuss and fight about religion. Positive feedback is not what goes on in forums for the most part. Sometimes it happens for comic relief. But not cosmic relief... lol.
( GS, you asked: "What kind of a 'sick' world is this that we live in?"
PS I wonder why you ask this question…
I mean... just because people do not respond to your OP?
- come on!!! Actually, you have gotten a lot of response considering how many threads you have started.
However, I do not even consider you to be religious. You and I are probably considered to be the equivalent of atheists to some! lol!)
This has been a beta thread. Don't take this thread too seriously :-)
The 'opening post' of this thread might seem a bit confusing at first. But if you really connect the words (of the 'opening post)'with that picture of a 'religious' speaker before an audience ~ a meaning might emerge.
It has been my experience that human beings are quite vulnerable before certain 'things' and circumstances. I feel that we all have a 'Kryptonite' (from Superman) type of weakness when we face certain elements in public (and private) life.
It's very frustrating ~ for a public speaker ~ if he/she comes on to a stage ~ after months of exhaustive preparations ~ and the audience voluntarily quit the auditorium. That person might feel as if he has been hit with a baseball bat. There are many versions of this phenomenon. For example: if the entire world declines to see every 'news channel' out there ~ all these news corporations will run out of business within a month or so. But no one would ever do that. The possibility of that type of a radical 'revolution' (by the means of withdrawal) is very low indeed.
If every inhabitant of this planet decide to withdraw from all these religious practices ~ all these religions and their institutions will have to shut down immediately. No one can run a religion if people are not 'following' it.
It wouldn't really affect people, in general (just as it wouldn't really affect us if we quit to view news-channels, especially in this internet era). But it would definitely affect the financial and social status of a few individuals who control and benefit from the phenomenon that we commonly term as 'organized religions'.
The Popes and Imams might get very frustrated if they witness something like this. Will that ever happen? ~I don't think so. The human character is fundamentally gullible in certain respects.
Ah, yet another religious thread, how deliciously poignant indeed!
As opposed to another thread on how poor ppl are bad and rich ppl are good?
How much longer are you going to be wearing your cape, sed-me?
You gotta love Batgirl, but I also miss the puppy.
I want you to know I had to wade through some incredibly questionable photographs in order to find that pic.
It's easy to see you are just attention-seeking. Your threads aren't thought-provoking at all.
Hey, we made this thread fun for him AND we participated... maybe he will be happy simply that ppl are commenting on his thread.
I liked the rattlesnake sign.
I also gave a serious response earlier.

Why do people care what religion you are?

Is the capacity to reason only found in Atheists?"God said it, therefore, I believe it." This is the mantra of the deity believer, whether one believes that an omnipotent turtle carries the earth on it's back or a god who would create an inferior life form for the purposes of...

Seriously why? Don't get me wrong I am sure this is a waste of time. I really need a forum filter, because I get fed up seeing all these religious topics all saying the same thing. Both sides are to blame. Many people say things just to get the other side mad, on purpose. It is fine to base your...

I have been noticing that Theists are usually stuck with the burdan of proof when it comes to their beliefs. This thread is about asking Atheists what they believe respectfully. It is for theists to get a better understanding of the views of Atheists. Remember the questions being asked are from...

Explain what has driven you from religion? The people is a cop-out, what about religion itself bothers you?
by jtyler 13 years ago
Whenever I browse forums that talk about religion, there's at least one person who makes a comment similar to these - "Since God doesn't exist, this is all irrelevant, so sorry to burst your bubble.""First of all, he doesn't exist anyway, which means this whole thing is...
