Feds Bust N.J. Officials - Mayors, Lawmakers, Rabbis Arrested
"The politicians arrested were not accused of any involvement in the money laundering or the trafficking in human organs and counterfeit handbags."
I've been having trouble understanding how all the pieces of this story fit together. It will be fascinating to watch the facts unfold, and see who turns states' evidence and rats out the others.
Yeah it's quite the sting operation Nelle. There's probably more than just the 44 people that they got already.
So I'm thinking my idea for a second-hand organs niche affiliate marketing web site is out then, am I right?
Pgrundy, I don't know why'd you say that. I'm sure there's even more need for a distribution system now.
I just want to know where they found the doctors to do the transplant and in which country the transplants were performed.
I guess you are right Nelle. That's a good point.
On a more serious note, my sweetie and I were discussing last night, what would it take to get you to sell your organs? Would you part with a kidney for $20K if you knew the procedure would be relatively safe? How about an eyeball? What would it take to get you to part with an eye? 100k?
I mean, it's grisly. But I have to wonder about the thought process behind this. His feeling was, not at any price. But I think in dire straights many would consider it.
So true Misha. The rabbi - who was refering to himself as a "matchmaker" - set the price of a kidney at $160,000, half up front. Wonder how much the donor got.
The donors got $10,000.

I watched this video... it is really shocking.
I heard people were being convinced to sell for $10,000 - and then the organs were being sold for more like the $160,000. (Hey, a rabbi's gotta make a profit, doesn't he? )
I wonder if the organs coming from Israel are from Jews or Palestinians. I have actually found a couple of web sites that say they are coming from Palestinian children but I won't post them here.
Yeah that's what the officials say in the youtube video Lisa. It sounds like it's been going on for a while.
I live in New Jersey and have to say that we are the most corrupt state. It seems like every person in my town drives a Lexus, has a beach house, and pays $30,000 in taxes. I wonder how so many people could afford it, especially the people who act like they have no education. My parents work really hard just to get by in our town. My friends parents work half as much as mine and get BMWs for their 17th birthday. Probably illegally. I can't wait to move out of New Jersey when I get older. Any suggestions?
I am really confused by the story too....been following along...guess when the rabbis got a death call, they told the politicians about the deaths or something....
I wonder if there is more of this story elsewhere?
I imagine we'll be hearing a lot more about this story over the coming days seeing the sting got so many of them.

Do you think donating human organs for transplant should be mandatory - provided by the law?We all know that organ donation is a noble thing and can save lives. But should it be mandatory by the law?

Since Bank of America and Payoneer no longer accept payments from PayPal, as far as I know I would have to return to the US to open another US bank account. Are there any international hubbers that know of an US bank that works with PayPal and allows a new bank account to be opened without a...
