I too am sorry for the girl but I am surprised that in an opne society as that in US this kind of things are feared. It can be see in some parts of India and some middle east countries but wasn't expecting it in US!
No where even remotely near as often as in 'some' parts of the world, but it does happen. Crime happens, and there are crazy-ass people in every country.
If I were her I would just run away again. If she keeps doing it eventually she will be eighteen and they cannot force her to go home.
There are a lot of closed small towns and ethnic neighborhoods in this country where all sorts of things happen that you never hear about.
This isn't an Islamic or even a religious issue, it's a cultural one.
I have a feeling some organization may appeal on her behalf too. This is especially the case with many of these news stories.
Of course we don't know at this point if her claim has merit. Not the sort of thing you want to find out the hard way, but just to be accurate...
What jerks! To kill someone just because they don't want to be the same religion as their parents. Closed minded fools! I agree with Nelle and Sweetie Pie I hope she keeps running away until she is 18.
I had a student years ago who went from Iran to Greece on a student exchange program. While there, he converted to Greek Orthodox. He ended up in the US because Greece wouldn't let him stay beyond his program of study and if he went home he would be beheaded.
She will be protected while in this country, but there is nothing to keep the parents from sending or taking her back to punish her.
Oh my Lord! I agree with Madame X. Where's Child Protective Services? Isn't there something someone can do? Of course she's going to be killed. This is SOOO sad.
no child looks that distraught and freaked out who is not in genuine fear for their life.
she should be kept away from her dad and wait for a year.
if the mule headed authorities take her back i would say that is evil.
if i was her i would break a law and go to jail before going home.

There are now 6.7 million job openings in America, and just 6.4 million available workers to fill them... This according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. April 2018 marked the second month in a row that there were more vacancies than available hires. This is a phenomenon that had not...

Anti-religious fanatics use certain words and phrases in their arguments on these forums. I'm making a little study of the ones most commonly used. Here are some of my finds: Hilarious (as in, not funny at all), fallacy (not to be confused with phallus and relating to any kind of belief that has...

Why do religious fanatics always type out their tantrums in caps lock?
