Is it okay to kill your child if God tells you to?

I don't think so but I want honest opinions from people who are religious. I am an atheist.

Do you want my honest answer?  I'm no Mormon, and I don't want to slander that religion unduly, and it could be that I'm doing so here - but I've been told, and read stories of children who were murdered who's parents were of that religion, and who'd deemed that that was what "God had told them to do."

God would never tell a person to murder there own child. The person either is mentally unstable or if they do believe in God listens to Satan. People tend to use the old testament as an excuse so they do not have to take accountability for there own actions.

In the bible GOD told Abraham to kill his son Issac for an sacrifice offer up to him as a test to see if Abraham trusted GOD truly. GOD stopped Abraham from killing his son Issac when he saw Abraham began to bring his knife down to kill his son that was tied up and laid down on the ground and GOD called out stop. do no harm to your son and that I now know that you trust in me. GOD was looking for true faith in GOD to establish the relationship that GOD wanted with Abraham on the earth and Abraham was known as the friend of GOD. I can safely say that today GOD will not tell you to do this but will in other ways find out if you really do trust in GOD totally like GOD have done with me in writing my 2 hubs on hubpages and doing GOD'S perfect will for my life on the earth and I have done this to the glory of GOD. I know and walk with GOD moment by moment.

God would not tell you to kill your child as murder is against God's law.  If one thinks God is telling them to do this, it is a delusion.

That would be silly from whichever angle you look at it. Whether one is religious or not, killing is wrong. From a parents view, if any God told me to kill my child, I would kill that God first! I'm also a non believer.

No. Murdering a child is unacceptable as is murdering anyone else without just cause.

From my views, I would say no, and as well as many people around the world.
there's one thing in the world that humankind still wondering around, that is:

    Is there a God???

No matter there is a God or not, all religious try to build a unity, peace for people, none of them teach people to do bad thing.

and from what i understanding the religious is something that try to control people from doing bad things, as the law not effective way to approach them. for example, kill people will be in jail for 20 years or even whole life-time and persecuted, but still people kill people, that is why the religious try to approach people by tell them what will be their next life would be, or what will be happened after they dies, so that they scare and try not to commit something that not acceptable from the society on.

Personally, I think that killing anyone is wrong. I don't think that God would ever tell someone to take their own childs life. It's one of the ten commandments - Thou shalt not kill. In my opinion, anyone who kills their own child and blames it on God is very seriously mentally unstable.

In no way God can ever say that you kill your child.

Please read my article titled "Abortion, A Controversial Issue..."  It will help you see a believer's view of abortion.  I don't think God is going to say it's okay to kill an unborn baby.(this is what you're talking about, right?)    He's not going to say its okay to kill a grown child either!  I was offered the option to have an abortion but I chose to go to my grave knowing I was willing to give my life for my baby, not go to grave knowing that I killed her.

The idea is an often uttered philosophical debate. If you follow the route of God is all good. There can be no evil done by Him or in Him. With this understanding of His character a realization that if He did ask it would be okay is there. But that is coupled with a realization that God wouldn't ask that.

I haven't heard from God for awhile now - LOL. I don't think so, answering your question, since it goes against the 10 commandments.

Absolutely not.  If God really wants your kid dead, he can kill the child.

No, obviously. First of all, no one has heard God talking since Milton, and he was very likely crazy.

The fun thing about being a human is that we can make our own decisions (hence the whole eating the apple thing) despite what God thinks, and so if he does tell someone to kill their child, he'd still think they failed his test if they actually did it.

You can't make these sorts of choices on someone else's life, and especially a child's.

If God told me to kill my son, I'd get a new God.

I think it is funny that some of you all say that God would never tell you to kill your child but that is not true for the bible tells of him telling Abraham to kill his son Isaac This link will show what I am talking about … ;version=9
I believe in god and to no ends but no one nor God him self would make me kill my child for no reason at all I would not kill any one for nothing or no one.

He was testing Abraham, God wouldn't have ever actually let him do it. That's why God stops him from doing it...He wanted to test Abraham's faith and see if he truly trusted and believed in Him. But people love to take that verse out of context.

God actually did tell someone to kill their child. If anyone read the Bible, you would know that. But God also was just doing this as a test of their faith.
