How important is it to you that you honor God & What does it mean to honor God?
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified , and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.-2 Tim 2:21
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.-Eph2:10
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.-Heb 10:10
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's-1 Cor 6:20
Honor God by loving him, living as per the ideals emulated in the scriptures. Honor should not create a distance. In fact, God is the most intimate one than any body else, since he is the resident of Heart(it is not the physical heart but a spiritual one). We can imagine god as our intimate friend and talk to him closely. He never leaves us even for a second. Conversing with God is really a type of prayer.
My philosophy is a bit different than the Christian philosophy in that it uses different terms for the same ideas, so bear with me as I try to answer this in Christian terms. It's very important to me to honor what is termed "God" because what I view as myself is not separate from that which is called "the Creator." Honoring "God" to me means an obligation to know myself as "His creation." Through that knowing, and the deeper I go into it, the more compassion I find as I also begin to understand others. This enables the states of forgiveness and inner peace. The inner peace leads me to a deeper relationship with what is called "God" as I continue on this journey. The deeper this communion the more compassion and empathy emerges, and it goes on and on.
This leads to the understanding that I am not separate from creation and everything it holds, including other people, and that is the ultimate compassion. All good deeds and actions, therefore, become an automatic response to this inner state, so "being good" is simply a natural way of being. The saying goes "do unto other as you would have them do unto you," which becomes an effortless act with the understanding that the others and you are one in the same.
Well for me it is everything to honor God. I know God through personal relationship and I have a profound Faith in God and His promises. I know by this Faith and Belief that He gave His only son who then suffered died and was buried. I know by His blood on the cross He has paid the price for the sins of all of us. So once one believes in Christ a it is important to commit to a life of obedience to Gods Law. By our belief and Faith in the cross and through asking for forgiveness of our sin then obedience to His plan for us we are made new and salvation is ours. We will not be perfect for we remain in the flesh. We must Honor God with all our heart and mind and soul by staying rooted in His word. We must Honor him be treating others as ourselves loving them. As all of our brothers and sisters have been made in His image. I now am someone Honoring God. I will fail at times and I should be convicted to ask for forgiveness make atonement and even re-dedicate my life if I have slipped to far. My only desire should be to live for Him and By Him and to honor all those around me as His creations. I will spend the rest of my time here on this earth doing my best to honor God my heavenly Father and my savior. The one who has fallen will do his best to condemn all that is good and his desire is to separate us from our loving Father. He will pursue our sinful nature and flaunt the deadly sins before us regularly hoping to win us to his side of jealousy and greed, anger... I believe that all people I meet are originally good and have seeds that were rooted and may have just spoiled on the outside. I will do my best to honor God by peeling away the bad layers of the lost and bitter. One layer at a time through the teaching of the Word of Christ. I will honor Him by leading other to Him or back to Him. I will discipline myself in my time alone reading His word so I never slip to far from Him. I will do my best to honor Him by keeping him in my marriage and parenting and my relationships. Because see I really Love Him and I really want to meet Him one day face to face ~ Peace
It is very important to me. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Since we are saved by the grace of God, I feel that honoring God in any way that gives him glory and praise for our lives shows our love for him and thanks for our salvation. God is our creator and honoring our creator with love and appreciation for all we have been given in life is a natural act of thanks for all that he has done for us.
It is not only important to honour God but crucial. Viewed from the standpoint that God is Spirit (Consciousness), then there is nothing else. Scriptures teaches us that we are made in the image of God (Spirit), that He dwells in us, and that we are not our own. It follows that in the same way that we feed the 'material, the consumer world', so too should the world of Spirit be fed. They go hand in hand.
'The Earth is the Lord's and its fullness thereof', says the Christian scriptures. So there is nothing here that we can call our own. Everything belongs to 'our Father', as the Christ puts it in Our Lord's Prayer.
What does it mean to honour God? St. Paul exhorts us to be imitators of Christ, that is to say, practice His works. Be an exemplary example to others. Speaking in Discipleship, David Watson, in the last four lines of his poem, says:
"And from your eyes He beckons me,
And from your heart His love is shed.
Till I lose sight of you, and see
The Christ instead". (Hodder and Stoughton Ltd)
We came here to glorify God, to do the Will of the Father in Heaven. We are the Temple or instruments of Spirit, and as such must do the work as would exhalt the Spirit. 'Watch and Pray', says the Scriptures, and again, 'let our work so shine that it may glorify our Father in Heaven'.
Various God-men, seers, sages and saints have demonstrated this throughout the ages. Indeed that's why they came. To create a beacon so that we could see a way to follow. I like answer 90 by Moonlightened. Let us have many windows in an expansive Heart. 'Contraction is death, expansion is life, says the Swami Vivikananda. Let us all strive to live expansive and compassionate hearts. Be ever vigilante. Watch and pray with intense Faith. Serve ceaselessly, and the God we honour will certainly come to our aid.
Great question and there are a lot of great answers on here already! It is very important to me. To honor God means I recognize who He really is and my response to that is praise and worship. To honor God means I live a lifestyle of worship--with my heart positioned towards loving Him and bringing Him glory in all that I do, say, and think. It means I always have a "yes" in my heart towards God because I know that He is always good, no matter what, so He would never ask something of me that is not in my true best interests. I give thanks to Him for every good and perfect gift, for each is from Him. I do what He said is the job of man--to believe in the one God has sent. To honor God also means to honor others. He created each person---each is His workmanship. Whenever I judge or criticize or am unloving towards another, I am dishonoring that person and also dishonoring God. Jesus honored the Father by obeying Him. Jesus saw the sin in the sinner but knew how to issue a personal invitation for freedom for each one. Jesus came not to judge the world but to save the world. Therefore, to honor God, I must walk as Jesus walked.
Above ALL ELSE it is required that each person treat each other person in the way
that he or she wishes to be treated.
This is how one pays honor, homage, tribute and respect to the Higher Powers.
It is the ultimate answer to the ultimate question.
As you treat the children of the parent, so you treat the parent.
I think honoring God is the most important thing in my life. I know that honoring God and a long life, peace and relationship with God are connected.
Also if I want to honor God with my life I must seek him and ask for God's leading, guidance and sustaining power in Jesus name. We have not because we ask not in many instances .I am not perfect at this honoring God thing, and I don't claim perfection- this is why I need Jesus. Jesus said this peace I leave with you, is not as the world gives it.
God grace is sufficient and His power is available to all who seek him with there whole heart in honesty, seeking to glorify God with there lives.
Without Jesus God gift for all people to be saved, I would have never had a chance to know God, glorify God, or to even have his spirit that causes me to walk through the darkness and to withstand everything that dishonor him.
So honoring God means to do as he has commanded- help people, pray for them, gives our lives for Jesus Christ and spread this Gospel to the world- this honors God!
God bless all of you and thanks for answering my questions!

Christians often speak of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. What does this mean? Please describe your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. What makes it a "personal" relationship?

Is it "really" possible to to have just a "personal" faith as a Christian?I certainly understand the desire to not make waves and to give respect and to be "open minded"; however, if one really claims to believe the message of Christianity as stated in Scripture, would...

How Does A Christian Know If They Are Saved Or Not?

Why do Christians feel the need to tell us about their religious beliefs?I don't have a problem with Christianity or any religion for that matter, but I view religion/spirituality as a personal and privvate matter and feel that it's best kept that way unless one is specifically asked to expand on...

Why does it seem most Christians are immature. It seems most people professing to be Christian do not have a proper grounding in the scriptures. They drink the milk but do not seem to be able ( or maybe no desire?) to eat the real meat- understand the deeper things of God, in spite of the fact...
