Does being successful equate to being happy? Can one be a failure yet be happy?
I think that if you're happy, you're succeeding in happiness regardless of what else is going on.
Walk quietly upon the earth, and leave not a single trace of your passing. If you can do this, then you are a success.
Success does not equate happiness as it depends on the individual. You can be successful and if you are not at peace with yourself or do not really love yourself you can definitely be miserable. When you are contented and not puffed up or haughty with your success you can achieve happiness.
Failures is not necessarily bad. It just means that you have to try harder until you succeed. You can fail and still be happy once you do not consider yourself a loser.
Failure is a motivating force to make you continue trying until you succeed. Happiness lies in knowing who you are as a person and your relationship with your fellow man.
This depends upon the definition of successful. Someone can definitely fail at a task and still be happy. Success, as most people would define it with money house(s), car(s), leisure time, etc., does not lead to happiness. There have been many wealthy people who have been quite miserable. Some have either committed suicide or died of drink or drugs trying to drown their sorrow, in spite of their riches.
What is failure? What is success? What is happiness? depending on the definition of these for you your answer will be different. As long as we breathe, think, analyze, we have room for improvement.
Anyone who is happy does not see themself as being a failure.
It's been said "failure is a result and not a person".
You can be happy without being successful. Not unless it is determined that being happy is the definition of what success is, then the answer is no. I hope that you can understand that. What I mean is that if you define being happy as what makes you successful, then you can't separate the two.
No. If one is happy, then one is successful. This is regardless of physical possessions, personal status or anything else of earthly concern.
I agree with LawrenceS if he means: If you are a failure, but happy then obviously yes.
The idea of being a failure yet happy is the same ludicrous premise that one can be poor & still happy. One can't be in an abject condition & be happy. That thought is beyond illogical & into the insane. Intelligent, logical people know that in order to be happy, one has to be successful. Success opens doors & opportunities which add to a better quality of life. People who have a better quality of life are happier than people who don't have a better quality of life.
Failure doesn't produce happiness. To believe this is totally inane. People who fail feel worthless, even hopeless. They feel that because of their failures, doors have closed & opportunities have decreased. People who are failures are viewed as losers by their families, peers, associates, & society. People who are failures can't be happy because they are unable to complete any task that they have started. People who fail can't be happy. In fact, people who fail AREN'T happy. They become bitter & envious of others who are successful.
I was rich and famous for decades. Most people thought I was successful and happy, but in reality, not so much. Was it all about the stuff?
I found out, happiness was more about my love ones, health and what I could forget in baggage.
Success in life was more about how I handle my desires, attitude, focus and less important talents. For every one has talent, it's a matter of turning it into love. Work is love made visual.
Being successful is an intense psychological, even psychic elixir. When people are successful, they experience a self of accomplishment which leads to happiness. When people are successful, they own their respective worlds. Successful people are the masters of their respective fate. They have opportunities that others don't or won't have. Successful people are powerful & powerful people are generally happy or happier than people who are powerless.
Failure has an intense DELETERIOUS effect on people. People who are failures feel worthless. They also feel powerless. They believe that they are incapable of doing anything right. Many give up feeling that no matter what they do, they will never succeed. Failure makes people feel unintelligent, even stupid. Also society derides failure. People who are failures are deemed lesser than. Many people who are failures ultimately become self-destructive in one way or another.

I read somewhere that being happy is a matter of choice and not destiny. What's your opinion?

If comfort food is bad for you but being happy is good for you, does that balance it out?
