The Bible says God is love. It also says he has a body and that humans are made in His likeness.

We are not sure, but in Revelations, it says "We" did a thing...which might could be significant in saying that the Creator may well have been Plural(although as Christians we are taught that there is the Holy Trinity of God, the Father, Christ, and The Holy Spirit} God is mentioned countless times in the scriptures of the Bible, and is referred to as the Father, Creator, Benevolent God, Maker and Provider. We often see God viewed as a Great Spirit, as many native tribes in the Western areas of the country, and others around the world, see Him. I believe that our Creator is a magnificent Spirit and beyond any human description that we actually can conceive of, in our limited intelligence. We humans find it hard to realize that there is indeed many beings with a greater brain power than our own, and I suppose it is just part of our conceit and immaturity. To each his or her own, and may our God bless us every one.

Very good question.  I know, perhaps a lame answer.  I guess I'm just expressing my agreement with you that these (and other) conceptions are at least valid questions with regard to how and if God exists.

My Bible tells me that the God I worship (I do not know about the gods others worship), is the Great I AM, He is called Jehovah, Holy and exists on His own. I believe Yahweh cannot be defined in one simple word or expression, He is all in all. One day, when we see Him, we shall know Him, for now, we only understand Him dimly, but then face to face, we shall see Him. I am sure there will be no doubt.

God is "The Alpha and Omega." He was the Word, turned into a man, and then into a Spirit. Spirit cannot be seen, so we should worship him in spirit and in truth. Are he still a spirit in his Second Coming? Uhmmm... He will be seen all around the world, therefore he is not a spirit anymore. Only God really knows who he is. To God be the Glory.

the oddest of question you've asked here, something like: what is a spatula? a thing, utensil, handle with a spoon.......? smile
God is what ones wants to believe it is. Religions have various names for it. But i for one think that God is whatever you want it/him to be. God is faith, God is the spirit in you that brings about kindness, shows you right and wrong, God is....having hope.

God is light.Light consists of all colors. That means no particular race or color has more claim on God than others.God is love. The bible refers to God as a 'HE'.He is our father and that means (in my opinion), that God is male.Adam was created from the image of God.Adam was male.Ergo is also male.Eve was created fro Adam's rib, hence men having one less rib on their right side than women.

That is a toughy. Many will disagree with my view. And, I don't want persons to assert falsely my spiritual system from this answer. Looking loosely at Genesis 1:26-28 we discover this is the only passage in Genesis 1 where sexuality is referred to. Again, loosely, verse 27 points out poetically

So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

I see 'man' is created in God's image. However, I see man as being the spiritual duality of both male and female. Man cannot exist without one or the other. So, for me, right or wrong, remembering the difference between right and wrong is what is left, 'man' is male-female. If we are in God's image then God is spiritually that as well.

I think the father is a result of the sociological pattern of a patriarchal influence. Though, the male is pointed out as being the headship it is also pointed out the male is not dominant - equality exists with male and female as 'man.'

But, that does not answer your question, "what is God?" It only offers a means of relating to God, before the work of Christ. And that work offers healing for the separation occurring after the verse mentioned earlier.

This is way too long. What is God - for me God is a concept. Who God is may be a different story entirely.

I think it is impossible to know.  The human brain is incapable of comprehending the make up of God, while in this human form.  My proof..., just read peoples opinions.

God is spirit (John 4:24) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

You will get many different answers depending on who you ask as to what God is.  I will use the Vedas (Ancient Indian books of Knowledge) as my reference point. God is the Supersoul, All pervading, All knowing, and All powerful. The origiinal creator of the material cosmic creation.  God is also a person konw as Visnu or Krshina(The avatar).  We are all part and parcel of God.

Keeping it simple God is Love, that is what binds all of us.

    Best wishes.
