Do you believe we all have a purpose in our lives? Are we all here for a reason?
I don't believe in fate or destiny. I don't think there is any reason for me to be on this earth other than simple biology. I'm OK with that. I like the idea that the coarse of my life is for me to decide. Both the successes and the failures are my responsibility.
I also know people who believe that everything happens for a reason. The good and the bad, it was all meant to be.
What does everybody else think?
Is there "anything" in the Universe, which is Purposeless, in Being ... Does ... what's beyond ... The Ordained ... in ... Existence ?
The Sun shines and radiates, helps produce, some ... we eat ... and some ... we use ... of ... The Creation !
Then how could it be ... that ... The Zenith ... of Creation ... the ones ... Granted the Knowledge ... Enabling them to ask ... this Question ... namely, Humans ... could be Purposeless ... In ... Creation.
How is it possible ... That The Created ... Transcend ... The Creator's Determined Purpose ... How can anyone, deny ... Destiny ... meaning ... not "doing" exactly ... what we are "Expected" ... to "Do" ... In, Existence !
I hope you are really interested in different opinions. Already I can see the thumbs down from people who disagree.
I believe that God created each of us for a divine purpose - His purpose. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet unto the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)
Yes, everybody here has come for a reason.... Reasons can be numerous...
Once you have played your part....you are off !!
Just like there is a set pattern of sunrise, sunset, earth rotation, our solar system, the system in our own bodies running various life processes- which proves the presence of intelligent forces governing these systems as per some infallible laws. Similarly we all have some roles with our unique identities to contribute our bit of work to the infinite Cosmos. We are here to give our inputs in the form of our actions (karma) to the Cosmos and hence are contributing to the overall supreme & divine cause of running the life on this planet.
I believe what you believe mostly. I believe it is bizare to believe that bad things happen for some greatness that may come from it 20 years later. If someone does something good 20 years after something bad it is because they chose to make that decision. We set our own path and are fully responsible for anything we do once adults. Anything that happens while we are children is the responsibility of our parents. I will never believe the thought that bad things happen to children so they can beccome something great or that because there is a plan for the child that requires them to be abused to become great. That is simply an excuse many use to justify the sad fact that children are abused and they have no idea why.
I believe we're all here for a reason. You may be fulfilling your purpose without realizing it. It's not all about you and what you think. One day, someone will tell you how much you helped, or how something you said gave direction to a life, or how supportive a friend you are/were. You're making a mark--a mark you are destined to make. Only wish you could recognize it and appreciate it.
Actually, what you are asking is, if we believe in some religion as the existence of purpose in life by nature requires some kind of metaphysical concept. Where would that reason come from and what rules are behind reasonable events? If we believed that the big Tsunami in Asia a few years ago only struck those who had deserved it or had bad Karma or will be rewarded for their suffering in heaven/a later life, there must exist some kind of universal judgement system. [Sad enough, there are people thinking like that!] Maybe it is organised like a bank account on which we receive interest for "good" deeds and pay fees for the "bad" ones. And a Tsunami then only takes those below a certain amount of goodness on their account. Well, if it were like this, maybe we would all be sweet and fair to each other in fear of getting wiped away with the next catastrophy and earth would be a beautiful place. But obviously it doesn't seem to work out, so maybe it works differently . And also, put 10 slightly different people together and try to agree on something like whether people should be punished for one thing or rewarded for another and you will realize quickly that the line between good and evil isn't as clearly drawn as some people out there would love to make us believe [imagine seven billion people agreeing on those rules], hence making it hard to believe for me that there is such a metaphyical thing as fate or Karma. Change and the fear of change are things that can clearly be observed. So how could there be fixed rules for all times and all beings that they can follow? And if even the rules changed, where could they be found? For sure not in the bible or other "holy" books, that have been more or less the same for over two millenia.
So no reason by nature, but that shouldn't hinder anyone creating their own reasons for their short time here. Have a good time. Mk
Yep...to everyone there is a purpose...thanks for inspiring me to write my Hub for today on Luck, Fate, Destiny, Providence and God. There's another small chunk of my book "out there!"
Our existence here on this earth would be deemed futile without a purpose. It's all we have or we will fall into the trap of simply going on with the tide like a leaf floating on the river with no direction in mind. From where I'm coming from, we believe and have faith in the source of our existence and purpose, to God. We hope that one day, we will find complete fulfillment of our goals and purpose in a God who created us.
We all have purpose and are therefore here for a reason - to fulfill our God-given purpose on this earth in the time that we are here. Absolutely, I believe that there is a reason for everything that happens; whether we know or understand what the reason is. God is such a God of order that there is really no reason to consider happenstance, chance, or coincidence.
For me, I believe in searching for enlightenment where we will no longer need to be reborn again. Maybe that will reduce the world population and help to preserve more natural resources for future generation.
It is like an uphill task where I am still searching for the right answer to the right path for reaching enlightenment.
I still hope to be able to achieve in this lifetime otherwise it will be another round to repeat itself.
No, I don't believe in fate or destiny either, no divine purpose, no mysterious reason for being, no metaphysical plain that we exist on spiritually.
But that's not the same thing as believing that our lives have a purpose. Some people's lives have no purpose, because they choose to live that way. My life has a purpose - the purpose I choose to give it, and that purpose changes as I grow and age. My purpose at the age of five was to play and have fun. My purpose at age thirteen was to get through a day of school without blushing horribly and saying something stupid. My purpose at the age of 26 and onwards was to care for my children and do the best job with them that I could (that's ongoing, and probably will be one of my purposes for the rest of my life?). My purpose now, at the grand old age of 35, is to find out what I want to do for the rest of my life, for myself. I've got some stuff to do, a contribution to make, things that I need to say, people I need to help, and those small tasks are my purpose at the moment. What my purpose will be in ten years, who knows? I just enjoying watching all of the beauty unfold, in its completely random and chaotic way.
'God is such a God of order that there is really no reason to consider happenstance, chance, or coincidence.' It's so interesting to me that we all see such different things in the world - to me, so much of everything is all about happenstance, chance and coincidence. I see it everywhere And I love it.

Can't bad things just happen? Or, do bad things happen for a reason? Some people act like it is one's own fault that one gets cancer (e.g., not eating right) or getting robbed (one acted like a victim) or even for suffering a natural disaster (for putting out a negative vibe). What do you think and...

Why are we here on Earth ?What am i supposed to do here ?that's a spiritual kind of question. But it's haunting me since morning. Everyday we wake up, go to work and then get to sleep. Is that's only the life ? Only this much ? What is your opinion ?

Why do most people, whilst they acknowledge God's existence fail to live for him?The devil has done everything he can to make people think that he doesn’t exist and yet most people live for him. Most people, though they believe in God don’t live for him. Why is that?
