   I think some people would just know. Jesus would be a person that others would be attracted to, in the sense that he has what we need more than anyone else. He would be a loving presence that would fill a void in the lives of thousands. He would heal, teach, pray, and show mercy to each person he met. Without any pictures, I think people would know when Jesus comes.

      In proper context, the Jews concluded that he could not be the Messiah because they thought He was born in Galilee, but if they examined the matter a little farther, they would have found that Jesus Christ was born exactly as prophesied in Bethlehem.

   In all of his glory, we would know. Plus, the second coming of Jesus will be a triumphant event with the clouds parting and Jesus coming to get his children. This spectacular event will not be missed by anyone.

   Weasey I do not think we would recognize Him. I think That those who are really doing the Christian walk will not know him. It would seem out of character for my Jesus to let me know it was him. Let me put it another way. The bum on the street, the lowly clerk, the unwed mother, the unruly children, the jailer man......
   We are to treat these folks with blindness as to who they are. We are to treat each other as brothers. I try to live my days, as though Christ were in all of these, in fact I believe He is.
   I may miss Christ, and woe be to me. But I like to think I already have met Him and blessed Him with care and Love. To me this is Christ the belief without the religion.

      Weasey, have you ever been in love? Especially new love. What you see in your special someone is all yours. It is a highly personal relationship, unique to you and them. Then you wed. and the someone becomes "yours" in a way they are not to others.

      Weasey that is kind of a simplistic label. So I will be simplistic in return. Love is subjective. Christ is Love. If we do not see in Love we do not see that which is Christ.

      Why the need to fit Love into a tangible category?  It is not of the empirical senses. So how real it is, depends on the person. Is it real? Yes. So in some sense it is objective but not like a dog. More like temperature. So we "know" Christ.

   I believe that the most  of the "faithful" would fail to recognize him because they don't believe in unconditional love.  I'll be looking for a Jim Caviezel or Willem DeFoe look alike.

      I think you are doing a great job Weasey. I raised this with a priest last night and it led to great discussion. Will we see a face we recognize? All Christians should ask this question of each other and ourselves. HInt: there is no right answer.

      Weasey,  Our relationship with Christ is so personal, and as you say subjective, that I think truth will be of the "for me" variety. At least that is what I want my catechism class to respond on Sunday.

    Two things come to mind. First, the Bible has a lot to say about His return so there would be lots of signs and evidences. Second, there will be a tremendous erupting of feeling and emotion when we see Him face to face. In other words, I'll know on the inside.

    I like this question. I think the only way we could recognize him is if he does anything that helps a person, say a blind person by giving him his sight back. But I guess though to people would just know, they get a feeling that this man is very special.

    I don't think that Jesus has ever really left....his Spirit is always here, around you, me and everyone else on Earth. That is where a sense of peace or joy comes from, even when there is nothing that we humans can see to be joyful or happy about. The comfort we feel when many others don't understand why we have it....this lets me know that Jesus is with me, even know. Healings, people surviving catastrophic events without a scratch, the sight of a healthy newborn baby...all these things shows us that He is with us.
    
    As for his physical form, I feel that we will recognize him. I think that there will be something magnetic about him that will draw all people in to Him. However, I believe that we he does come back it will also come with many supernatural events (the Rapture, etc) so He will be kinda hard to miss! We'll know

       Brayan22, look over your shoulder or into the face of a child. Jesus is there already. Ascension and heaven are not prisons. He does not need a passport to return on the next flight. He is here in love.

    I think we will not recognize Him nor would He wants to be recognized. In fact, my belief is that He has never left us. He lives in each of us, setting a standard for us to live up to.
